About the role
The Role
As Marine Engineer on board the workboat Forth Sentinel you will be responsible for all planned and reactive maintenance of the vessel’s propulsion, auxiliary and deck machinery, and electrical/electronic equipment.
You will also have responsibility for carrying out planned maintenance programmes and fault diagnostics to ensure equipment is maintained to the standard required by the MCA, and that all necessary associated documentation is kept up to date.
Other key duties include monitoring fuel usage, updating the engine log, ordering spare parts and ensuring all vessel housekeeping is carried out to a high standard.
Your standard working pattern will be dayshift Monday – Friday however you must have a flexible approach to working hours as occasional weekend working and calls outs may be required.
Candidate Requirements
You will be a skilled Engineer with experience of maintaining Workboats. Ideally you will also be certified to the capacity of Engineering Officer of the Watch however an experienced marine fitter will also be considered.
Highly organised and capable of working unsupervised, you will also have the ability to work effectively as part of a small team.
You must have a full UK driving licence.

- Right to work in the UK
- Knowledge of Port Marine Safety Code
- You must be a skilled Engineer with extensive experience of maintaining Workboats/Tugs
- You must possess valid STCW Marine Engineer certification, ideally to the capacity of Chief Engineer
- Highly organised and capable of working unsupervised
- You must have a full driving license, valid in the UK
