Oxford Instruments Plc
Full Time Oxford, England 24367 - 42573 GBP ANNUAL Today
Job description

At Oxford Instruments, we enable the world’s leading industrial companies and scientific research communities to image, analyse and manipulate materials down to the atomic and molecular level. Our customers use our NanoScience ultra-low temperature and high magnetic field environments to go beyond what was once thought possible, whether that’s creating Nobel Prize winning materials or developing quantum computers to solve the world’s most complex problems.

Do you have experience working within a technical manufacturing environment or you would like to start your career in manufacturing? Would you like to work with exciting, cutting-edge technology? We have a requirement for a (Trainee) Manufacturing Technician to join our experienced team and contribute towards the continued quality and craftmanship of the building of our products and components.

We would welcome applications from individuals who have previous experience of mechanical assembly, ideally in a complex manufacturing environment. Alternatively, we will consider applications from technically-minded individuals who have a proven interest in working with their hands, (this can be through previous work experience or a hobby).

The opportunity

In this role you will work as part of our manufacturing team performing the mechanical assembly of components that go into our range of cryogenic products. It is essential that these tasks are completed to the highest quality and according to best practice processes, agreed timescales and cost objectives.

About You

This role will suit a flexible individual who enjoys working as part of a team, pays attention to detail and is meticulous over the quality of their output. We would welcome someone who challenges the norm in a constructive manner and can carry out tasks with minimal supervision

To qualify for the Manufacturing Technician position, you will have previous experience of working in a complex manufacturing environment, you will have practical knowledge of skills such as machining, hard and soft soldering, but most importantly you will have experience of mechanical assembly. Prior experience of working with vacuum technology would be an advantage. A recognised engineering qualification, such as an apprenticeship or NVQ would also be an advantage.

If you are applying for the Trainee Manufacturing Technician position, then you must have an interest in practical work, be a team player, numerate and detail orientated. You will join us in an entry-level position, where you will receive on-the-job training.

Benefits

In addition to a competitive starting salary, Oxford Instruments offers flexible working hours and a half-day on Fridays, 25 days annual leave, private healthcare, a share incentive plan, a defined contribution Group Personal Pension Plan, and a flexible benefits package that you can tailor to your own requirements. #LI-JR1

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, colour, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, or disability.
Note to recruitment agencies: Oxford Instruments operates a Preferred Supplier List, and we do not accept unsolicited agency CVs. Please do not forward candidate details in response to this advert, or to any Oxford Instruments employees or other company locations.
