Qkine is a Cambridge, UK-based manufacturer of high-purity, animal-free growth factors, cytokines and other complex proteins. We combine proprietary production processes with protein engineering technology to tackle fundamental biological and scale-up challenges for the fast-growing stem cell, organoid, regenerative medicine and cultured meat sectors.
A spin-out from Cambridge University founded in 2016, we have already attracted a loyal customer following from both leading biotechnology companies and world-class academic institutions. As we enter the next phase of our growth, we seek an experienced technician to join our talented laboratory team and and help support the next stage of our expansion.
We are looking for a technician to support the work of our Manufacturing team. You will hold a BSc in biochemistry or a related scientific discipline, or have experience in the Biotech industry. Responsibilities will include preparation of buffers, media and gels, maintaining and calibrating equipment, receiving and monitory stock levels of consumables and managing laboratory waste.Any experience of working with proteins would be advantageous but not essential as full training in protein expression and purification will be given. The successful candidate will have great attention to detail, good communication skills and a flexible approach. We are looking for proactive team players with a broad range of skills and definite can-do attitude.
You will have:
- Experience of following laboratory SOPs
- Direct experience of preparation of buffers and stock solutions and running SDS-PAGE gels
- Knowledge of ELN platform and accurate data collection and presentation.
- Experience working with a QMS such as ISO9001: 2015 or ISO13485 would be an advantage
