WHAT TO EXPECT
Power Train Production Operations oversees the manufacture of the new JLR engine to assist the next generation of JLR vehicles.
Delivering a premium product, the production operations team will establish, introduce and develop the new facility to ensure a first-class service to our customer base.
Manufacturing Engineering oversees the governance of the manufacturing processes within the engine plant and acts as the change authority to these processes. It also plays a key part in overall operating efficiency improvement actions as well as assisting new production/major product changes delivered by the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Department.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement innovative manufacturing solutions to support product changes and new variant launches
- Support new product launches from the design phase through to recurring manufacture to ensure all processes and facilities support our operational objectives
- Provide engine assembly process knowledge and guidance for Kaizen activities
- Utilise lean manufacturing techniques and use knowledge to coach production teams on potential opportunities for improvement
- Drive the implementation of process improvements to reduce cost, improve quality and productivity
- Ensure that all of our equipment is capable of continually delivering a quality product to our customer that exceeds their expectations
- Identify future capital expenditure projects to improve performance and reduce overall expenditure
- Provide technical expertise to team problem-solving activities
- Assist with training for the integrated production and maintenance teams
- Feedback on key issues/lessons learned for future programmes
WHAT YOU-LL NEED
Skills, experience and qualifications required
- Be aware of JLR leadership behaviours and be capable of demonstrating areas of strength
- Experience and knowledge of engine assembly / testing or have transferable skills from related industries such as the manufacturing of Aerospace Electro / Mechanical systems
- Experience and knowledge of NPI and change management process for introduction of new parts
- Experience of working in a high paced production environment with evidence of exploiting the opportunities that this environment presents.
- Awareness of process control and capability analysis methods with evidence of using them to drive improvement
- Experienced in the generation and maintenance of Control plans and PFMEAs.
- Ability to communicate across functional boundaries and at different levels is essential
