Job description
We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to maximise the profit of the business through the effective productionisation of New Product Introductions (NPI) and Raw Material Development (RMD) projects to the agreed cost, quality, and timing.
The main requirements of the role will include:
To liaise with the New Product Development (NPD) and Raw Material Development (RMD) departments to facilitate scale-up from prototype to serial production. This includes:- Coordination of robust design of experiments (DoE) to establish operating windows of key process parameters/variables.
- Validation of new products or existing products following raw material change across the full portfolio of manufacturing routes.
- The design and validation of the new manufacturing processes to as required including scoping and defining new equipment, facilities, tools, and gauges.
- Design, development, and validation of processing specifications which ensure appropriate product quality using PFMEA and Control Plans to appropriately treat risks.
To identify and eliminate waste in the production process through the use of lean manufacturing tools, root cause analysis and logical problem-solving.- Including the use of analytical techniques to identify trends in production processing parameter/material property data.
- Identify and implement containment actions to restore process adherence.
- Develop robust corrective actions to inhibit reoccurrence promptly.
Responsible for drafting and owning production work instructions (SOP’s & SPP’s) to ensure production processes are safe, efficient and ensure optimum product quality.
To maximise resource utilisation through the reduction of downtime and scrap, whilst increasing throughput without detrimental impact to quality
Includes leading continuous improvement projects from ideation to delivery, with robust stakeholder, timing, and cost management.
To foster and embed a health and safety culture throughout the organisation by identifying safe working practices and areas for improvement.- Conducting risk assessments on new processes and equipment by liaising with the OHSE department to appropriately identify and control hazards and risks.

- Proven experience with lean manufacturing/six sigma/continuous improvement tools.
- Proficient in the use of statistical analysis software e.g., Minitab, JMP, NWA Quality Analyst etc., MS Office and ERP systems.
- Knowledge of simulation software packages desirable (MATLAB, Sci-lab etc.)
Experience
- Demonstrable experience in an industrial manufacturing environment including leading new product introductions from prototype to serial manufacture.
