What is the role?
- Working within the Microelectronics department, you will be part of the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of the manufacturing processes.
- Liaising directly with Microelectronics Production personnel and other engineering staff, you will ensure production processes are properly monitored, maintained, and documented.
- You will participate in the continuous improvement of Microelectronics manufacturing through review and evaluation of processes, standards, documents, records, personnel training standards and requirements; maintaining personal professional development and introduction of new processes, methods and equipment.
- Evaluation: evaluate manufacturing processes, design experiments or research programs to investigate processes; apply knowledge of product design for manufacture, fabrication, assembly, tooling and materials in order to determine whether or not a process is optimal.
- Implementation: design, develop and introduce manufacturing processes by studying and evaluating product requirements; monitor and measure new processes to ensure finished products conform to specification.
- Improve: develop processes to ensure best possible quality and reduce waste; increase efficiency by analysing and planning work flow, space requirements and equipment layout.
- Validation: assure product and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished product and process capabilities; establish standards and production documents as a reliable record and easily retrievable, identifiable, and readable reference for production operatives and confirm manufacturing processes are operating correctly.
- Monitoring: produce product and process reports by collecting, analysing, and summarising SPC information and trends; monitor critical production equipment parameters and performance indicators to ensure processes remain within an acceptable level of control.
- Maintenance: ensure key equipment remains operational by co-ordinating maintenance and repair services; review and implement manufacturer’s instructions and establish maintenance procedures, monitoring programs and operational limits of acceptability required for effective monitoring.
- Training: ensure skills and competencies are recorded, monitored, and maintained by assisting HR and Training personnel in maintaining a microelectronics skills matrix; assist management and production personnel by identifying training needs and providing training, guidance or skills development.
- Research: maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational seminars; review professional publications; research opportunities to incorporate new or improved processes and equipment; methods of monitoring, inspecting, measuring, testing completed product; investigate failures or returns to identify root cause and define corrective and preventive actions.

Who is best suited for the role?
- Must have a HNC or HND in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline.
- Completed an BEng or Meng degree in an engineering or scientific discipline with a completed module on electrical/ electronic engineering.
- Able to lead a team to meet performance standards.
