Responsibilities
- Identify manufacturing needs for new products in development
- Design new systems and processes and create facilities & methods to ensure the cost-effective integration of new products or for the improvement of existing ones into manufacturing operations
- Create shop floor layouts and cell designs
- Identify and assist with the design of fixtures and tooling for assembly tasks
- Generating production documentation such as assembly instructions and process documentation
- Reduce variability in manufacturing by providing standard work methods and work instructions
- Maintain statistical data and produce KPI’s
- Improve manufacturing efficiency by analysing and planning workflow, space requirements and equipment layout
- Support and lead continuous improvement, problem solving and process improvement activities
- Carry out FMEAs, (Failure Mode Effects Analysis) process documentation and implement improvements
- Investigate production and process issues providing technical support and training
- Poka Yoke (error proofing) where possible to prevent errors
Essential Skills
- Experience of working within an Automotive/Manufacturing environment with relevant experience as a manufacturing/Production Engineer within a fast paced, forward-thinking business
- Liaise and communicate with other departments, suppliers, and other service providers
- Ability to manage one’s own time and prioritise workload accordingly
- Be an effective team member, working with colleagues to ensure smooth workflow with maximum output
- Experience in PFMEA’s, control plans and standard operations sheets
- Proven track record in problem solving and the development and implementation of new processes within a production and manufacturing environment
- Organised, Methodical but Flexible approach to workload
- Experience of automotive product quality assurance systems (IATF16949, ISO9001, 5S, TPM, KPI’s)
- Strong problem-solving skills and logical approach
- Understand lean manufacturing.
Experience and knowledge of Carbon Fibre would be desirable.
