Job description
The qualified candidate is versatile and effective in diverse areas that require understanding of the dependencies among material properties, product design, costs, manufacturing systems, and process technologies. They are to function as a manufacturing problem solver and coordinate solution of manufacturing problems through all affected areas. They are to advise manufacturing, design engineering, quality, and others on questions of producibility and the application of new technologies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following and other duties that may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Assist on such items as interchangeability, tool policy, manufacturing plan, manufacturing test plan, process control and documentation.
- Design and develop work procedures, job travelers, manufacturing process flow and layout utilizing lean manufacturing methodologies.
- Design and develop assembly guides, procedures and illustrations.
- Design tooling, fab aids, jigs and fixtures for assembly.
- Investigate manufacturing problems that are encountered during the manufacture of
parts and assemblies.
- Test and measurement using standard test equipment such as multimeters and oscilloscopes, and measurement tools such as calibers and micrometers.
- Provide technical alternatives for and coordinate the solution with others on problems
with tooling, inspection, engineering, material and manufacturing.
- Root cause failure analysis using industry standard tools.
- Review new designs and recommend modifications to optimize productivity and producibility.
- Assist in the development of test software and instructions for automated testing of new and existing products.
- Maintain a working knowledge of new technologies in the factory and their impact on
production methods.
- Interface with the customer and be able to travel to customer sites when necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with Electrical, Mechanical, and Computer Design.
- Basic understanding of industry standard practices related to Electrical design.
- Basic understanding of quality systems and compliance in a regulated industry.
- Experience with process development, documentation and implementation.
- Experience with solid modeling, PCB layout, ERP, and PLM software.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Hold an accredited B.S. Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Electromechanical Engineering, Multidisciplinary Engineering, or other related engineering degree.
- Equivalent combination of education and/or related experience may be considered.
- Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills, technical writing and documentation skills.
- Must have excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office.
- Familiarity with basic shop tools and machine equipment, and an aptitude and understanding of basic electrical, mechanical, or software engineering principles.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States.
Optional Capabilities:
- Design for Manufacturing experience or education.
- Experience in a manufacturing or design environment.
- Project management skills.
- Interest in aviation/avionics design and manufacturing.
- Experience in the avionics certification processes for the FAA or other certification authorities.
