Position Overview
The role of Managing Director, UK is to maintain and drive the company's growth and success in the UK through its businesses: Cover-More Insurance Services Limited and Cover-More Blue Insurance Services Limited (UK branch) and any future operations.
The Managing Director UK is responsible for developing and implementing strategies that align with the company's mission and values, while ensuring compliance with industry regulations and managing risk. This includes developing the UK value proposition across all products (Travel and specialty products), channels (direct/retail and partnership/intermediated/embedded) and businesses (direct and branch operations), whilst ensuring and safeguarding the commercial and operational performance of the businesses within the UK: This position requires the role holder to receive prior approval from the Financial Conduct Authority in the UK and the Central Bank of Ireland for relevant senior management functions
Qualifications and Training
Significant experience in a senior executive role in an insurance, financial services or relevant industry, with specific travel knowledge / experience being ideal and having had full P&L responsibility.
Ability to realise and articulate strategic priorities in the context of short and long term objectives and the ability to engage and inspire others to align with the strategic direction
Deep understanding of the UK travel insurance market and competitive landscape
Strong understanding of regulatory requirement and experience of interacting at a senior level with the UK regulator
An awareness of European regulatory requirements and landscape advantageous
Previously approved by a UK regulator for holding a senior management function would be advantageous
Thorough understanding of corporate governance requirements and best practice
Experience of holding executive board positions advantageous
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
To be successful in this role you will need:
Strategic planning and execution of the UK strategy in line with the European strategy and direction of the Cover-More Group.
Profit & Loss responsibility for Cover-More UK and Cover-More Blue UK Branch, including sales generation, cost management, budgeting and forecasting.
Ensure integrity and accuracy of management and financial reports
Manage the business in accordance with applicable relevant regulatory and compliance requirements, and internal compliance and risk policies.
Proactively managing the UK businesses’ exposure to risk including management of, and regulatory responsibility for, the combined businesses, including acting as principal of Cover-More Insurance Services Limited and UK Branch Manager for Cover-More Blue Insurance Services Ltd.
Work closely with the Managing Dirctor, Ireland to report on the branch business to the Board of Cover-More Blue Insurance Services Ltd in accordance with the UK Branch Guidelines and governance framework.
Active participation with the European leadership team.
Maintain the required level of resourcing in the combined businesses, including ensuring the adequacy and performance of Shared Services and the Functions.
Work closely with World Travel Protection in the UK, including promoting a harmonious co-location environment and identifying and leveraging mutually beneficial opportunities.
Build and maintain relationships with key partners, brokers, insurers and other stakeholders to generate new business and expand the company's reach.
Maximise industry networks to support the sales strategy and cultivating a strong pipeline to support the Head of Partnerships, Europe.
Maintaining timely awareness of the internal and external competitive landscape, customers, markets, industry developments and business growth opportunities.
Champion the continuous improvement of the UK businesses, leveraging latest work practices and technology from across the Group to stay competitive and efficient
Develop a cohesive team across the shared services that leverages strengths to accelerate growth in the market
Champion employee satisfaction initiatives, including driving improvements in ENPS and actioning employee feedback
Champion sustainability efforts in the UK
Skills:
Strong relationship management, negotiation and people leadership skills
General management level financial literacy and understanding of company reporting principles commercial levers
Notable track record of managing complex business issues and problem solving within a complex highly regulated environment
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Proven influencing skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments and functions
