As a Barclays Manager - Legal Chief of Staff Office, you will be assisting the Chief of Staff Office Lead with a wide range of activities within the Group General Counsel (GGC) Chief of Staff Office relating to the GGC’s accountabilities and deliverables across a range of areas. Your primary accountabilities include overseeing emerging legal risks and preparation of Legal Risk reports and associated papers for Committees and Board and drafting governance, process or guidance documents relating to the Function.

What will you be doing?
- Helping with law firm engagement in relation to horizon scanning, LExCo presentations and report preparation
- Liaising with the Legal CCO, Legal and Risk teams in relation to risk and control matters for the Legal Function, including participating in relevant fora with other stakeholders
- Drafting lead and governance, process or guidance documents pertaining to the Legal Function
- Leading GGC meeting and presentation schedules and associated papers and supporting with the co-ordination and management of these
- Assisting with any other ad hoc requirements relating to the GGC or the Legal Function/BCS
- Bringing together different teams, disciplines and skill sets to assist the Legal Function, BCS LExCo and the GGC
- Supporting the Chief of Staff to the GGC and the Chief of Staff Office Lead throughout
- Managing and leading end-to-end efficient process for preparation of Legal Risk reports and associated papers for Committees and Board in relation to emerging legal risks
- Comfortable engaging senior stakeholders, ability to flex style and form solid, effective, and influential relationships at all levels
- Ability to team up effectively with others, delivering quality output to tight deadlines
- Ability to work with minimum supervision, but comfortable determining and knowing when and how to escalate issues and concerns.
- Legal experience, either as a practising or previously qualified lawyer and Complete discretion and ability to work on highly confidential and sensitive matters
Skills that will help you in the role:
- Experience of preparing legal risk, Board, Board Committee, or similar papers
- Experience of working within internal Legal or a Chief of Staff team
- Excellent communicator, both in written reports and verbal briefings with high attention to detail
- Ability to operate in a complex environment and execute at pace to a Board-level standard
