Job Description Summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Group Cost & Conduct Finance team in a high-profile role. The role will provide you with an understanding of the Group’s cost base, including central conduct provisions, analysing trends, building insightful reports, and communicating the findings to senior management to aid key decision making. It will also provide the opportunity to develop a wide range of skills, and act as an excellent platform for further career development.We are looking for great people and therefore may flex responsibilities depending on experience, development goals and team capacity – so whilst the accountabilities below focus more on Cost activities this is just an example. We are a team of around 20 colleagues responsible for the management of the direct cost base including cost category and finance division partnering, and financial oversight of central remediation. The team works across sites in London, Edinburgh and Gloucester, with flexibility as to whether the vacancy is primarily based in Edinburgh or London.
We operate on a hybrid basis with a mix of two office days and working from home.

Job Description
What could you be doing?
As noted above, responsibilities will be agreed through the recruitment process - feel free to discuss in advance for any specific areas of interest
Oversight of Costs and Conduct monthly reporting within a strong financial control framework, including cost management, legal entity reporting and leading a wide range of relationships including Divisions / Cost Categories / Group Investment / internal and external audit / Investor Relations / Strategy
Deliver insight into the end to end finance process from management reporting, (e.g. QXF & 4YOP) through to External Reporting statements and Investor Relations queries
Simplify complex financial data to deliver focussed MI to senior forums incl. Group Cost Management Committee and GEC, develop strategies, communicate effectively using different media and drive the delivery of key activities
Support the build and optimisation of key Conduct provision models and provide technical expertise and knowledge of the drivers
Participate in team development activities including identifying and driving opportunities for process improvements

Key Accountabilities
- Produce accurate monthly Costs reporting for Executive Committees; adding insight and partnering divisional teams
- Produce quarterly competitor analysis, identifying cost drivers and trends and producing summaries for the Group Financial Controller
- Provide support for monthly Group and divisional cost meetings, supporting the senior team members to produce ad-hoc analysis and proactively identify areas of interest for upcoming meetings/playback sessions with senior partners
- Present to senior partners on a regular basis, communicating the monthly/quarterly story, providing challenge to divisions, and taking a hands-on approach to engagement across both costs and conduct
- Support quarterly external reporting processes, working on updates to Executive Committees and engaging with Investor Relations
- Provide technical expertise and knowledge to the rest of the Finance team around the cost base and its drivers
- Operate a strong financial control framework, ensuring existing control measures (e.g. SOX, accurate legal entity reporting, internal/external audit compliance) continue to be handled optimally, but with an eye for continuous improvement
- Simplify complex financial data, deliver focused MI, communicate effectively to a broad range of partners using different media, and drive key activities
- Be active in team development activities including identifying and driving improvements and contributing towards a feedback culture
Skills Required
- Fully qualified accountant with minimum 3 years post qualified experience (ACA, ACCA, CIMA etc.), with experience within financial services highly desirable
- Experience of financial systems (e.g. SAP, Planning Analytics, Wdesk) useful and ability to manipulate complex data in Excel to provide clear management information
- Experience of business partnering senior stakeholders and ability to communicate a clear story from complex information
- Attention to detail, with a focus on producing well considered insight and analysis with a high degree of accuracy
- An inquisitive mentality and proactive approach to problem solving, partner management and operational improvement
- Ability to ensure robust and accurate processes are put in place, controlled, and continually refined
- Positive interpersonal skills, with the ability to build networks, challenge, influence and agree actions
- Desire to make a difference to stakeholders and the team
