Qualifications

Registered Nurse, registered with the NMC

Commitment to achieving the Leadership and Management Award (Level 5)

Experience

· Previous management/supervisory experience

· Ability to communicate effectively at all levels

· To participate as duty on call as necessary

· To ensure adequate staff cover

· Team player and excellent interpersonal skills

· Genuine interest in working with the relevant client group

· Satisfactory Police Check (DBS) and check against the ISA list

· Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate staff

· Be able to make clinically sound effective decisions

Hours

  • 42 hours per week
  • x2 shifts as deputy (9am-5pm)
  • x2 shifts nursing (7am-8pm)

Key Responsibilities

Care

To ensure that the standards of care delivered to our residents and records are maintained to support the care provided are in accordance with Tanglewood Care Homes policies.

To ensure the Team Members of the Care Home receive appropriate induction, training and support to fulfil the obligations of their job description, this will be accomplished by agreeing training strategies with the Registered Manager and overseeing the training programme delivered by the in house Training Co-Ordinator and external training sources.

To ensure that the mandatory in house training programme for all Team Members is ongoing and well attended and the statutory NVQ levels are attained.

To ensure high levels of clinical care and governance is provided to all client groups.

Standards are achieved and maintained in all areas of the home including clinical/dementia care.

Assist the Registered Manager to maintain a robust quality assurance system by means of audits and feedback of outcomes to relevant staff groups.

Communication

Participate in staff and client meetings as and when required.

Establish and maintain good communication with clients, relatives and with the multi-disciplinary team. Provide administrative support when required.

Budgetary / Financial control

Ensure that all commodities used in and around the Care Home are sensibly conserved by all Team Members.

Human Resources (HR)

Adhere to and implement all HR policies and procedures.

In absence of the Registered Manager maintain correct records of working hours of all Team Members. Monitor and control sickness and absence in line with Company policy.

Assist the Registered Manager with formal supervision/appraisal of Team Members and on-going informal assessments of the work of Team embers to ensure consistently high standards and continued learning.

Assist the Registered Manager to ensure sufficient staff cover.

Marketing

Actively promote the care home with a positive / professional profile within the local community, ensuring the good reputation of the Care Home at all times.

Ensure the care home is attractively presented and odour free at all times, in line with the Company’s attention to detail philosophy.

Ensure a viewing room is suitable presented and available at all times (unless care home is fully occupied).

Training and Development

Supervise and instruct junior and new staff members in all aspects of their work in the care home, giving help and guidance where appropriate.

Maintain and improve professional knowledge and competence. Keep professionally updated in all areas of clinical expertise.

Attend mandatory training days / courses on or off site as and when required.

General

Adhere to all appropriate NMC guidelines / regulations.

Maintain all records as required by both the Registering Authority and the Directors of the Company.

Ensure all information of confidential nature gained in the course of duty is not divulged to third parties.

Ensure the security of the care home is maintained at all times.

Adhere to all company policies and procedures within the defined timescales.

Ensure all equipment is clean and well maintained.

Carry out any other tasks that may be reasonably assigned to you.

To be conversant with the company staff handbook.

Lead the team; provide sound clinical knowledge, leadership and management to ensure the highest standards are achieved and maintained.
