Envisioned Role

We are looking for an innovative individual to engage Indigenous communities and suppliers to create social and economic benefits for the province. This position will be within our Procurement team reporting to the Senior Director of our Transformation Management Office & Supply Chain Management. This position will be focusing on engaging Indigenous communities and Indigenous-owned businesses. You will seek to develop relationships with these stakeholders to source contract/relationship opportunities that will benefit both parties. There will be a strong emphasis in working with the Indigenous communities to create and foster long-term relationships in order to create mutually beneficial relationships. You will work closely with internal stakeholders to identify opportunities for Indigenous businesses and support them through the procurement process. You will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with Indigenous businesses and communities to increase awareness of SaskTel’s procurement and contract opportunities. In addition, you will develop and implement strategies to increase the participation of Indigenous businesses in SaskTel’s supply chain.


The Successful Candidate Will Possess:

  • A university degree in Indigenous Studies, Business, or a related field with at least 5 years of leadership experience in supplier diversity or procurement, with a focus on Indigenous supplier development. A combination of relevant education and experience will be considered.
  • Strong understanding of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and values, and their impact on business practices.
  • Previous experience in a role working directly with Indigenous communities.
  • Expertise in relevant Indigenous business trends, best practices, laws, and relationships in a competitive information, communications, technology (ICT) business environment.
  • Strong relationship building skills with Indigenous Peoples and First Nation communities.
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and negotiation skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
