Role Responsibilities:
- Actively support the Financial Services Manager and Head of Finance and Customer Services in their section 151 duties for the Council
- Manage the day to day treasury and insurance activities of the council, as well as support the development of the council treasury strategy
- Responsibility for supporting the Council setting an accurate budget, including the reconciliation within the general ledger system
- Provide information to enable the section 151 officer to complete the statutory resolution
- Production of the HRA rent setting report, and ensure that the rent setting process is correctly followed
- Contribute to the medium term financial planning ensuring it meets the requirements of the Council's Financial Strategy
- Manage the treasury function of the council
- Manage the insurance department as well as ensuring the council is aware of its responsibilities from an insurance perspective
The ideal candidate will have/be:
- Experience of local authority accounting
- Understanding of principles of accounting within the public sector
- Experience of working with budget and service manager and linking operational and financial data to financial planning and management
- Experience of completing grant claims and statutory and statistical returns
- Experience of compiling revenue and/or capital budgets
- Substantial knowledge and experience of requirements of Internal and External Audit
