Severn Trent Green Power, part of the Severn Trent plc group of companies is a successful, national, waste company with an excellent reputation in the organic waste and renewable energy sector. We operate 9 anaerobic digestion facilities, 2 in-vessel compost sites, and 3 open windrow compost sites.
The company’s strategy is to continue to develop as a market leader in the recycling and processing of organic wastes and generating enough renewable energy throughout the business to meet our triple carbon pledge to be carbon neutral by 2030.
WHAT IS THE FUNCTION OF THIS ROLE? ROLE SUMMARY:
Severn Trent Green Power Group Ltd, have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Management Accountant to join our established finance team.
Working alongside a team of Management Accountants, you will take ownership of multiple group entities, ensuring accurate preparation of monthly management accounts and reporting to our Group team. You will be required to liaise with key stakeholders to understand and report on performance. You will also work closely with the rest of the Finance team to provide support in other areas.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE?
You should have proven working experience of management accounting and a solid understanding of basic accounting and financial principles; Good Excel skills are essential, and knowledge of Sage 200 would be an advantage. You will be willing to use your initiative and take pride in delivering your work on time and efficiently.
KEY ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ownership of entity trial balance, posting adjustments to ensure accuracy
- Creating and posting journals, accounting for accruals and prepayments.
- Processing of intercompany transactions and reconciliations
- Preparation of entity balance sheet reconciliations
- Production of the Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and other supporting schedules as part of the month end, half year and year end close process.
- Provide commentary and insights into variances to budgets and forecasts
- Assist with the preparation of budgets and forecasts
- Conduct regular meetings with site and regional managers to share financial performance knowledge with each region
- Daily cashbook postings for the group bank accounts
- Maintain fixed asset registers and track capital spend
- Collation and submission of P11D information
- Assist with the year end audit process
- Identify and drive performance improvement opportunities and provide valuable insightful information to support decision making.

- AAT (or similar) Qualification
- Use of Sage 200
- Experience of working in a Management Accountant role
- Solid understanding of P&L, cashflow and balance sheets

- Ability to effectively interpret, analyse and evaluate management information.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, communicating at all levels.
- Possess good stakeholder management skills.
- Confident with IT systems, good Excel skills required.

- Advanced Excel Skills
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum AAT qualified or be able to demonstrate equivalent qualification by experience.
- Proven working experience of management accounting and a solid understanding of basic accounting and financial principles (minimum 1 year)
- Exposure to budgeting and forecasting, working with Operations Managers
Desirable
- Previous experience of using SAGE 200 Accounts

Salary: £30,000.00-£36,000.00 per year
