Guildhouse School (formally CATS College London), offers an outstanding international pre-university educational experience to students aged 14+ from all over the world. CATS students live and work in our beautiful periodic buildings studying for GCSEs, A levels and University Foundation Programmes, and preparing for admission to universities across the country and elsewhere. We pride ourselves on our approach to teaching and learning, with small class sizes and an informal atmosphere ensuring that students are treated as individuals and build great relationships with staff.
OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE
Leading a team of up to three, the Maintenance Supervisor has a focus on creating a unique environment, allowing Guildhouse Schools educational offering to be delivered to our students seamlessly and safely. Responsible for the smooth operation of both the school and our 125-bedroom student accommodation, key emphasis is concentrated on refining, expansion and engagement.
Supporting all staff and the Senior Leadership Team, no two days are alike. One moment you might be collaborating on the school’s London expansion strategy and the next you might be getting your hands dirty on a maintenance task. Here’s a snippet of some of the things you would expect to work on throughout the week:
Involvement and active participation with the entire Operations Management Team, working closely with both the Head Chef and Head of Cleaning
Management of the maintenance staff including the senior maintenance operatives and two maintenance operatives
Be available to not only lead the team with active hands-on maintenance but progress the operations to be forward thinking and proactive
Ensure the weekly, monthly and termly statutory checks are followed in accordance with the school’s Health and Safety Policy i.e. fire alarm checks, water testing etc.
Manage any contract workers that are on site, ensuring that are fully compliant with all the latest legislation and they are fully conversant with the company regulations

REPORTS TO
You will be directly responsible to the Head of Operations and will work within the framework set by the Group Director of Operations/Group Operations Manager
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS JOB
A candidate must be able to work collaboratively, advising and sharing knowledge, supporting colleagues as necessary. Hard working and reliable, the role is a key member of our school community and will be responsible for;
Working extremely closely with our cleaning, security and building management teams to ensure they’re feeling engaged and working effectively to make the school a great and safe place to be
You’ll be part of the communications front of house for all things operational in Guildhouse operations.
Space Management, from rearranging our study spaces to managing complete classroom refurbishments.
Engagement with the entire staff; from risk assessments, to arranging maintenance ensuring all involved are kept informed.
Working close with the Head of Operations you’ll be the owner of cost tracking for the maintenance budget. This means approving & tracking invoices, making payments and account confirmation as well as working with suppliers to keep costs competitive
You will ensure all minor maintenance tasks are remedied and importantly allow the school to carry on with what it does best, teach and educate
Proactive, the school are working towards a model that means we are ahead of the game, tacking the issue at source is a vital skill and a long-term goal. Using our computer aided management system to organise all tasks will become second nature
You’ll be a trusted and visible member of the office, being a lead in creating, managing and importantly giving feedback to staff about the maintenance schedule of all statutory compliance requirement
Ensuring that all furniture, fittings and tools are compliant, safe and crucially effective. Maintain what is possible, what isn’t, arrange for replacement or repairs
As a school we are moving away from paperwork that cuts down trees, our paperwork is going online. Managing all maintenance, compliance and regular check files is a key responsibility and you’ll be part of the planet saving solution
Investment and projects go hand in hand, working with Senior Leadership and the Head of Operations you will offer effective and invaluable information on how/where the group’s investment should be best applied.
Working within a school environment is a unique and rewarding challenge, previous experience of working in the environment will help. But being an approachable, fair and rational member of society covers all the bases.
