Job description

Location: Hull

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: Full time

Salary: Competitive

Our story goes back more than 150 years, to the chilly southern coast of Scandinavia. From our early success in Sweden and Denmark, we’ve grown into the world’s leading specialist producer of plant-based oils, employing more than 4,000 people all across the globe.

We work with our customers to make the products you love even better. The oils we produce go into making your chocolate extra-creamy or putting the crunch into your croissant. And it’s not just food, we work across industries to make products that are higher quality, healthier and better for the planet.

Everything we do is about Making Better Happen™

AAK Hull

AAK Hull is located in the heart of an area enjoying significant redevelopment and investment.

The Port of Hull is being established as a world-class centre for renewable energy and manufacturing, and at AAK we feel proud to be part of this important industrial renaissance for Yorkshire and the UK.

At our recently upgraded site at King George Dock, we operate the UK’s largest refinery for edible oils and fats. We supply businesses in the sectors of food manufacturing, baking, foodservice and retail, and we work closely with customers to co-develop bespoke products.

About the role

AAK are seeking to appoint a Maintenance Scheduler to join the Maintenance team at Site Hull. This is a Monday to Friday, day’s role and will report into the Reliability Engineer.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the scheduling of all maintenance work performed on site. They will establish when the work should be done and who should perform it, working closely with Production, Planning and Engineering/Maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Be the principal contact and liaison between the maintenance department and the production planning departments served by maintenance, ensuring that Operations receive prompt, efficient and quality service from the maintenance function and that the maintenance function is given the opportunity to provide this service.
  • Prior to scheduling work, verify the availability of parts, materials and special tools required for execution.
  • Develop a weekly maintenance work schedule - From the backlog files and with production schedule alignment.
  • Ensure jobs selected for scheduling meet the deadlines established by the requesting department and maintain preventive and predictive maintenance schedules, communicating and re-prioritising if any work orders cannot be scheduled within the prescribed priority lead time.
  • Work closely with the operation planning department in the overall plant scheduling of the following week’s work, including negotiating for downtime ‘windows’ during which preventive and corrective maintenance can be performed.
  • Follow up to ensure the completed schedules and work orders are returned at the proper time. Carefully review completed schedules and corresponding work orders submitted by the maintenance area supervisors and monitor work order progress for any reports necessary.
  • Work closely with the operation and maintenance leaders, consulting them regarding facilities or equipment to be maintained and provide recommendations concerning long-range maintenance needs and, in collaboration with production, prepare a weekly forecast of all jobs expected to be scheduled for the following week. Where justified, solicit work orders for relatively minor corrective maintenance in order to avoid major repairs at a later date.
  • Maintain an open package of schedulable work orders, which require equipment to be shut down so that some or all of them can be performed in the event of an unscheduled shutdown of that equipment. These unscheduled shutdown lists are prepared, reviewed and updated weekly.
