Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Maintenance Operative to work across our Services. You will primarily work in our Manchester Services however may be required to work in other sites across the North if required.

You will be responsible for and ensure the upkeep, general maintenance, safety and security of the Service's buildings, grounds and outdoor equipment and support cleaners in their role when required.

You will be required to...

  • Undertake general repairs and maintenance.
  • Plan and carry out duties in an efficient and tidy manner.
  • Prioritise and plan repairs so that there is minimum inconvenience and disruption to the service.
  • Be pro-active in identifying maintenance issues and defects.
  • Minimise cost and disruption or organise 3rd party contractors in a timely manner.
  • Record and report defects/issues of concern beyond your skills and scope to your line manager.
  • Carry out planned and regular maintenance such as emergency lighting, fire alarm, legionella checks in accordance with NAS guidelines.
  • Attend out of hours calls or remain on site to carry out emergency/urgent repairs or attend on external contractors as required.
  • Carry out repairs to furniture, fixtures and fittings where possible.
  • Carry out minor redecorations projects.
  • Ensure the site is kept tidy at all times.
  • Maintain tools and equipment.
  • Carry out driving duties as required by the service.
  • Carry out regular vehicle maintenance checks and report/organise repairs in accordance with NAS vehicle policy.

You will have some maintenance skills and ideally some experience in a trade position (joinery, plumbing, electrical)

A driving licence is essential for this role as the successful applicant may need to drive across several sites throughout the Region
