Job description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated tradesperson to join our in-house Group Property Services team as a Maintenance Operative on a permanent basis. We’re looking for someone with experience specifically in Joinery and Plumbing. The role will also undertake reactive and planned maintenance works in a safe and effective manner across all our sites, primarily Plumpton Park, Taylors Warehouse and Bettys Café Tearooms. Normal working hours are 37.5 hours per week: Mon – Fri: 8am – 4pm or 6am – 2pm – combined across the week. On occasions you will be required to work outside of normal hours to complete specific tasks which cannot be completed during normal operational hours.
If you would like to discuss flexible working please provide more details in your application.
About you
You must be able to demonstrate:
- Ability to carry out general maintenance, joinery and plumbing works and installations.
- Competency in undertaking typical ‘maintenance/handyperson’ repair works including plumbing and sanitaryware, windows, doors, fixed and loose furniture and ironmongery.
- High standard of workmanship and conscientious proactive approach to all tasks undertaken.
- Ability to respond to urgent maintenance jobs and assist with fault finding.
- Knowledge of planned preventive maintenance tasks including fire door maintenance inspections and associated repairs, clearing drains, gullies and roof gutters.
- Understanding of logging maintenance tasks electronically.
You will need to be able to work both as part of a team and independently. You will also be able to work with the nuances of a family-owned business, where aesthetics are treasured and valued alongside commerciality.
What we offer you
As a minimum, all our employees receive free meals, drinks and snacks while at work, a discretionary quarterly profit-share bonus, holiday allowance with the option to buy and (in some cases) sell additional days, company-wide employee discounts, access to our health cash plan, wellbeing support, company funded counselling, and enrolment in the company pension.
We also offer a range of development opportunities no matter your role and ambitions. We encourage everyone to explore what makes them the best version of themselves, and we do this through external training programmes, apprenticeships and internal 1:1 coaching schemes.
