Due to our Company growth and busy workloads, we now have a new and exciting opportunity for an experienced Plant Service Engineer/ Heavy Plant Mechanic to join our team in our Normanton Workshop, working with our growing fleet of some of the most sophisticated Road Rail Vehicles on the rail infrastructure.

The Role

As Plant Service Engineer/ Heavy Plant Mechanic you will work on-site and in the workshop carrying out maintenance to machines and attachments as part of a small and friendly team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Effective maintenance of Plant machinery ensuring that all servicing and repairs are conducted to meet regulatory requirements and business plans
  • Identifying if a service is required and any defects or damage, ensuring parts are ordered where required
  • Completing monthly detailed inspection on Rail attachments and trailers and twice monthly inspections Construction machinery
  • Undertaking pre-delivery inspection, identify any issues and take the appropriate action
  • Ensuring that all external testing and proof load testing is arranged proactively
  • Maintaining accurate and up to date documentation, records and systems
  • Completing all service and PDI sheets accurately and record appropriately
  • Completing all service log accurately and in a timely fashion
  • Attending site call outs (including night calls) to repair any breakdowns
  • Providing fitter cover on site as and when required, including load all and thermic lancer procedures, as directed by site agent/plan
  • Operate machinery as and when required
  • Provide gas cutting on the rail as required to meet plan deliverables
  • Ensure service van is stocked and replenished with the necessary tools/kit
  • Responding to Client repair calls within two hours
  • Any other responsibilities as requested by your line manager

The ideal candidate

As the ideal candidate, you will need:

  • To be qualified and/or hold current certificates for Load All, Thermic Lancing, Gas Cutting, PTS
  • RPA assessed / signed off
  • NVQ level 3 in Plant Maintenance or equivalent
  • Experience in machine and Plant maintenance
  • To hold a current forklift truck certificate
  • Good working knowledge of Construction and Rail industry, with site working experience
  • Computer literacy in MS Office suite, Outlook and Plant software package
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • To be customer focussed
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Full driving licence
