This particular role is based at our Bakkavor Breads site in Barton-upon-Humber, close to the Humber Bridge. This factory specialises in making chilled speciality baguettes at high volume and employs over 160 people. The site is located 14 miles from Hull, 16 miles from Scunthorpe and 24 miles from Grimsby.
We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Maintenance Manager to join our engineering team based in Barton. The site uses highly automated assets and technology to produce a wide range of products for all the major retailers.
About you
If you have an engineering background with relevant training and experience in maintenance management, ideally within a fast-paced food manufacturing or FMCG environment – this could be the role for you. You will be energetic, punctual, proactive, and reliable with the ability to lead, guide, and motivate others towards achievement.
Duties will include:
You will manage planned, predictive, and reactive maintenance, preventing issues occurring
To provide engineering technical support on a day-to-day basis, but also in the case of major technical plant breakdowns
To ensure that all business policies and procedures are always followed by the shift engineers
Contributing to the installation and decommissioning of food and drink assets
Working with other teams, you will contribute or lead technical performance reviews and continuous improvement activities
You will have contact with auditors, regulators, and customers undertaking site visits
You will be responsible for using engineering practices that ensure food safety in line with current legislation
You will be required to lead and support the engineering team management in day-to-day HR activities such as: personal development plans (PDD), time management, holiday approvals, and disciplinaries etc
To ensure the highest standards in terms of Safety, Quality, Hygiene, and environment are maintained
To identify areas for continuous improvements and drive inhouse project work
Skills required:
Must have technical expertise in mechanical and electrical competency
A minimum of 3 years of management experience (preferably in the food industry)
Must be able to communicate at all levels within the business
Demonstrable logical and thorough fault finding ability using Siemens PLC software and Allen Bradley
IOSH qualification, ideally NEBOSH qualified
Trained to 17th Edition minimum
Trained in Inspection and Testing is an advantage
Understanding of KPIs and how to achieve them
To keep up to date with technical and manufacturing changes
Computer literate
Must be a conscientious engineer who is focussed on action closure
Must be driven to get it ‘Right First Time’
Must be a team player, problem solver with a flexible, can do approach
