Job Title: Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer
Location: Gnaw Chocolate Ltd, 59 whiffler road Industrial Estate whiffler Road NR3 2AW
Reports to: Head of Operations
Definition:
provide effective and efficient mechanical and electrical maintenance support throughout the production and warehouse facility, and general building & construction maintenance support.
Support continuous improvement projects and monitor and update maintenance schedules and procedures.
You will be working closely with the Production and Packing teams to ensure that all machinery operating procedures and systems that are in place embedded to improve the manufacturing function.
Overall Purpose of the Role:
The role will be working with a wide range of complex automated and semi-automated machinery and will include planning and preventative predictive condition-based maintenance of manufacturing machinery and other machines and equipment within the factory.
Working with production teams you will provide training on machine process and basic production maintenance (TPM), meeting stretching demands through OEE.
You will be responsible for ensuring full insight into spare parts and indirect materials inventory ensuring parts available to support maintenance events building into preventative maintenance processes/plans.
Key Responsibilities: General & Task Management
· Respond to breakdowns on fast paced production machinery such as the production machine, conveyors, and packaging machinery.
· Responsible for recording accurately all work undertaken, including job reports.
· Performing planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities in line with the schedule & company requirements, to support an upturn in OEE and a reduction in downtime. Update and upgrade the schedule as required.
· Implement safe temporary repairs where production restrictions apply, inform Shift Leader/Supervisor, and arrange permanent repairs in production down time.
· Conduct regular inspections whilst assisting in the completion and review of risk assessments for the department.
- Fully engaged in supporting the engineering maintenance strategy to move from a reactive breakdown philosophy to proactive and preventative maintenance.
· To step change the performance and efficiency through continuous improvement techniques.
- Ensure proactive response to maintenance and breakdowns on site ensuring continuity of production and services.
· Ensuring basic building maintenance program is maintainedincluding AHU.
· To fully engage in and coach the effective development of themselves and their colleagues in their upskilling on their lines.
· Maintain a stock of appropriate parts and materials, ensuring reorder requests are placed promptly.

- Maintain COSHH Register and ensure any relevant safety files are kept up to date.
· Attend team/department meetings to discuss short-, mid- and long-term company objectives, feedback reports on KPI achievements and identify improvements. You will provide basic building, plumbing, decorating and carpentry tasks to support the maintenance of the building, requesting contractor quotes and support where appropriate.

· Report on any changes that may affect the supply and demand of products and materials.
· Ensure Factory GMP standards are maintained through completion of daily checks.
· Ensure wiring diagrams for all machines on site are available and up to date.
· Clear operating instructions to be written if not provided with new machinery. Including assembly/dismantling of machines for cleaning and safe cleaning procedures.
· Ensure daily/weekly checks are carried out and documents completed.
People Management
Develop an enthusiastic, motivated approach ensuring staff are well informed and involved in the factory OEE performance and improvement.
· Provide preventative maintenance and operational training to staff as required and ensure staff training records are updated.

· Liaise and communicate with other teams, sharing critical information and build positive working relationships, creating a seamless working environment.
· Ensure an effective interface with other departmental staff is maintained.

· Work alongside the production team to share ideas and improve operation by recommending, supporting, and implementing continuous improvement activities, process, and procedure improvements in line with company standards and performance expectations.

· Assist with incident investigations when required to ascertain root cause and implement any preventative actions identified.

Person Specification
Experience and Skills
· Have a recognised UK electrical qualification at NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
- Be able to read both mechanical and electrical schematic drawings and have a good knowledge of AC motors, inverter drives, PLCs, and sensors.
- Experience of working with compressed air
- Proven experience of successfully managing mechanical and electrical faults/breakdowns on various items of plant and machinery, working within the parameters of finance, efficiency labour costs and company KPI’s.
- Mechanical stripping down, rebuilding, servicing, and overhauls on various items of plant and machinery including replacing motors, gearboxes, belts, bearings, and rollers.
- Application of basic plumbing and DIY skills.
- Practical involvement in plant projects or upgrades.
- Excellent understanding of industry Health & Safety practices.
· Excellent attention to detail, organisational and follow-up skills.
· Excellent time management skills with proven experience of successfully managing multiple deadlines and priorities.
· Understanding or experience of LEAN manufacturing or other performance improvement techniques.
· Competent in problem solving, team building, planning, and decision making.
Essential
· Experience/understanding of using food production/packing machinery and equipment.
· Hold a H&S qualification, i.e., NEBOSH/IOSH.
· Knowledge of ERP/FR systems.
· Valid First Aid at work qualification.
