Maintenance Assistant – Kent & Canterbury Hospital
We have a great new opportunity for a Maintenance Assistant to join our growing and friendly Estates Department at the Kent & Canterbury Hospital.
Salary: £22,000 per year
Working Hours: 8am to 4pm, Monday to Friday – 37.5 hours per week.

The Role:
We are looking for driven self-starter types who want to be part of a hands on and fast paced environment, who ideally would have some maintenance experience or “handy work” in a similar type of position or has come from a trade background with some prior training. You do not need to be fully trade qualified, although it is a bonus.
Although direct experience is useful, this is a development role for someone looking to learn but that does have an understanding of repairs and building maintenance standards & procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- To work in accordance with the requirements of 2gether on Water Supplies HTM 04 as directed performing non-complex tasks.
- Carry out daily routine tasks in accordance with PM5 in connection with Steam Boiler Systems.
- Perform daily checks on Steam Boiler water quality and perform necessary adjustments to maintain feed water quality within recommended guidelines.
- Perform daily checks on Hydrotherapy Pool chemicals and perform necessary adjustments to maintain pool water fit for clinical use.
- Actively participate in the operation of the Technical Solutions CAFM system, including identifying own jobs as being in progress, closing down jobs adding comments plus time taken and notifying Team Leader of work that cannot be completed due to shortage of parts - therefore must be confident with technology
- At all times to carry 2gether Support Solutions communication devices to facilitate immediate response to emergencies
- Work overtime to carry out works as required by management
Maintenance Responsibilities
- Undertakes minor repair works and general maintenance activities at the request of the Engineering Supervisors.
- Carries out routine planned preventative maintenance inspections in accordance with 2gether procedures.
- To liaise with Engineering Team Leaders regarding plant or equipment failures.
- Completes all report sheets as necessary.
- Carries out data collection of utility meter readings as directed by the Team Leaders or Maintenance Manager.
- Undertake maintenance and repairs of the various waste systems on the site.
- To follow planned maintenance schedules.
- Assists Tradesman undertaking Mechanical, Electrical & Building repairs and installation Works with and follows the instruction of Team Leaders / and Technicians at all times whilst working on hot water / steam systems or other systems as directed.
- Uses all relevant tools and equipment within safety guidelines as necessary for the completion of works.
