Job title: Maintenance Assistant
Assist with regular servicing of equipment (Thermal Interface Units, AHU's,
Purpose: plumbing), and other general maintenance and repair tasks as required by the Estate Manager.
Report to: Estate Manager
Key working relationships: Residents on site College staff including, but not limited to, those involved in teaching, administration, catering, housekeeping and childcare. Visitors Contractors
People management: There are no people management responsibilities
Operating budget: There are no budgetary responsibilities

You will…
- Assist the Estates Team with their regular PPM Schedule (weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual checks)
- Perform portering duties when office/flat/house or other equipment requires moving
- Perform general maintenance and repair of the building, grounds, and equipment including painting & decorating, carpentry, and basic electrical/plumbing repair works
- Ensure that all areas of the College are checked daily for general tidiness and cleanliness, and that accumulation of rubbish is removed to the skip
- Assist the groundsman as required in such duties as weeding, hoeing, mowing and collecting leaves
- Work as part of the Estates Team to ensure the overall aims of the College are achieved
- Undertake any other duties as required for the effective running of the College
You have…
- Some practical experience of working successfully in a similar job role (A,I)
- Ability to achieve the physical demands of maintenance with regards to climbing ladders and working at height, working in confined areas such as service tunnels, and manual handling
- Ability to follow instructions and perform routine tasks accurately and consistently (A,I)
- Basic understanding of mechanical systems (plumbing, heating and air-conditioning systems) (A,I)
- Confidence and initiative to apply departmental procedures to situations as they arise (A,I)
- Good customer service skills (A,I)
- Understanding of Health and Safety regulations in the workplace (A,I)
- The ability to give and receive information effectively and efficiently to colleagues (A,I)
- The ability and willingness to work within, be empathic with and promote the Christian ethos and values of The Salvation Army Mission (A,I)

- Basic plumbing skills (A,I)
