The Trust is expanding its property portfolio as an integrated Health Care provider and as a result, a full-time vacancy has arisen within the Estates Department for a Maintenance Assistant. The Estates Team provides planned and reactive maintenance and emergency call-out services 24/7, 365 days a year to 96 buildings across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.
Operating as a mobile Maintenance Assistant across all trade disciplines, you will receive your work on a handheld device from the Estates and Facilities Help Desk and Team Leader. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who is willing to do tasks as needed, physically fit for moving, lifting, bending, etc, responsible for their own work, health and safety aware, methodical and reliable. They also need good organisational, practical and communication skills.
As a Maintenance Assistant, you may work in a hospital, health centre or headquarters building. Some of your duties may include:
- Legionella work
- emergency lighting
- testing of water temperatures
- inspection of water tanks and drainage systems
- portable appliance testing
- small repairs and maintenance
- disposing of clinical and other waste
- moving furniture and equipment as needed
- calling in skilled maintenance staff for larger repairs
- maintain the grounds, including sweeping paths and gritting during cold weather
- test fire and other alarm systems
- training and development
- fill out compliance documentation correctly

Applicants should ideally have previous experience of building services maintenance and should be able to work on own initiative with minimum supervision, be self-motivated and have the ability to work as part of a team.
In addition to the planned preventative maintenance, you will be required to carry out reactive repairs across all building disciplines such as unblocking sinks, drains, toilets, patch plastering, gutter cleaning, tile repairs and lamp replacement working within your competencies. You'll often work alongside other estates services staff assisting to maintain the structure and fabric of the buildings on various sites. You will be expected to organise your daily workload ensuring you complete the tasks in the given priorities and have the ability to work unsupervised.
A full UK driving licence and vehicle for business use is required for this post; however reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled individuals in line with the Equality Act 2010.
