This is a beautiful and unique John Lewis Partnership owned hotel, set in 130 acres by the River Thames in Cookham, Berkshire. It offers both character and charm to our guests.

The guests can stay in one of 5 beautiful houses on the site, each maintaining the period look of it’s time with access to the picturesque grounds including a private stretch of river, water gardens, a pool and sports facilities. The main building Lullebrook Manor and its grounds are thought to have been the inspiration for the classic novel The Wind in The Willows bringing history along with relaxation.

Relaxation can be further achieved with a visit to our Serenity Spa, offering beauty treatments and massages or afternoon tea on the terrace, a drink in the bar or a meal overlooking the river. For any golfers, there is also our Partnership owned golf course Winter Hill down the road.

Full time position working Monday - Friday with earliest start time 7am & latest finish time 8pm. Weekends on a rota basis.

Please note that as part of this role you will be required, on occasions to be on call and therefore maybe required to stay onsite if you live more than 20 minutes away.

Working in the hotel, you’ll be surrounded by a team of passionate and dedicated hospitality Partners to give our guests the best experience whether they are with us for the day or a longer stay. As co-owners in the business, you’ll see this difference in the way your teammates and you approach your job and carry out your responsibilities.

You’ll work as part of a small maintenance team assisting the Maintenance Technicians in handling routine maintenance activities throughout the hotel and golf club, acting as a brand ambassador by being a warm and friendly Partner who provides a consistently outstanding customer experience that is unrivalled in the marketplace.

Typical tasks include:

  • Performing routine maintenance tasks such as faulty window latches, changing light bulbs and decorating
  • Reacting to maintenance calls from reception to fix any maintenance faults to the Hotel, public and Back of house areas, golf course, Air b&b's and Staff properties.
  • Completing preventative maintenance programs such as fire alarm, smoke detector checks and Water checks.
  • Ensuring safety of driveways by coordinating salt sprinkling activities during snowy weather
  • Ensuring the hotel looks clean and maintained at all times
  • Ensuring that any potential hazards are taken care of
  • Assisting the maintenance technicians
  • Set up and removal of camping facilities
  • Assisting with Pool Maintenance

What do you need?

  • Hospitality is an ever changing environment with a real focus on great customer service and providing an experience for our guests. This is achieved through each Partner being motivated, creative and great teamwork.
  • Proactive
  • A good knowledge of tools and equipment regarding buildings maintenance
  • Ability to work well in a team or on your own with minimal supervision
  • Able to work in a physical role with agility and dexterity
  • Drivers licence is essential.

What else could you bring?

  • Proven experience of the hospitality industry
  • Exceptional at handling maintenance issues in a proactive manner
  • Experience of working with trades and/or Technicians
