Please note that for part of this apprenticeship you will be expected to attend our training provider SETA in Southampton for the first 40 weeks of the apprenticeship- We can provide accommodation for anyone that is not in a commutable distance to the training centre.

Maintaining our network is essential and the Asset Maintenance team work on this front line.

You will be joining our Asset Maintenance team, covering mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, controls, and automation. Being multiskilled in this way allows our technicians to directly impact the ongoing service our customers receive ensuring water keeps flowing and waste is taken away.

You will learn to undertake reactive and planned maintenance of plant and equipment daily but be part of our 24/7 365 coverage of our network reacting to incident and managing these issues. The role will give significant technical expertise and we look to you to support in managing projects internally, to respond to alarms and fault find to identify issues, fix these, or escalate if required and to carry out inspection and test on electrical equipment following company procedures. This is far from exhaustive, and our Asset Maintenance roles are among the most varied and fast paced in the business where every day is different.

Growing our Asset Maintenance team is about growing for the future, and you will be an integral piece of the puzzle as we build a resilient water future for our customers. Your role could grow into Field Performance Management level and project management opportunities if you so wish. Progression into engineering roles and asset reliability positions are also pathways to consider. Southern Water will support you in growing into roles to meet your ongoing ambitions.

As an apprentice you will have exposure to:
Standard equipment and tools required
Operational processes and impacts
Technical Mechanical or Electrical drawings
Wastewater Pumping Station’s and water supply works
Health and Safety (selves and public)
Regulatory risk and Legislative compliance (e.g., Street work Act)

You will need to show us that you are:
A good communicator
A collaborator and team player
An influencer who can coordinate when required
Adaptable/flexible and self-motivated
Keen to learn and operate complex processes with high quality controls.

Please note the role requires you to have a driving licence or a willingness to learn to drive (once old enough)
