Loram UK Ltd is a part of Loram Maintenance of Way, a leading worldwide railway maintenance equipment and services provider. Loram UK Ltd offers a complete range of rolling stock engineering, and maintenance services, train operation services nationally, plus rail grinding systems and services all co-ordinated from our 100,000 sq.ft of service facilities located in the heart of the rail industry in Derby on the RTC business park.
Our ambitious growth plans have seen us recently be awarded a new multi-million pound contract with Network Rail, with more in the pipeline. Following our recent successful recruitment campaigns, we are seeking to expand further. We currently have a vacancy for a further Mainline Train Drivers.

Mainline Driver
Whilst Loram UK is based in Derby, at the heart of the UK rail industry, our growth requires national coverage, therefore the will role be home-based with travel to the relevant locations.
Role Summary
Loram UK Mainline Train/OTM Drivers are responsible for carrying out train driving duties and route conducting in a safe and professional manner, operating in accordance with GE/RT8000 and adhering to Loram UK’s traction and route knowledge competency policy.
You will be expected to work on your own initiative and carry out mixed traction work including operating and driving various On Track Machines (OTM) such as Multi-Purpose Vehicles (MPV) and Track Recording Units (TRU) as well as hook and haul rail movements using various types of locomotives.
Whilst most of the work will be around your own geographical location, lodging away from home is an essential part of the role, therefore flexibility and a willingness to travel to and from the relevant locations will be required.
What we are looking for:
To be considered for this position it is essential that you are a qualified Train Driver, holding current or recent Train Driver competence and be a holder of the current European Train Driving Licence. It is essential that you understand the Rules and Regulations in accordance with GE/RT8000 and have route knowledge and Sectional Appendix awareness of Loram UK operated routes and/or be prepared to learn new routes. You will also be qualified to Loram UK operated Traction and/or be willing to learn.
This is a safety critical role and you will be required to hold/undertake Track Safety competence and as an experienced driver have a good safety record.
This position requires flexibility to travel using any method of transportation and may require working away from home as OTMs and Trains work nationwide. Our ideal candidate will have the ability to learn quickly, and apply high levels of cognitive, analytical, retention and reasoning capabilities, alongside having excellent communication skills.
Please Note:
Because of the operational and safety responsibilities of the role, the selection for this role may also include psychometric/aptitude testing for train driving.
We have a competitive benefits package providing a medical cash plan, discretionary bonus, pension, life assurance and corporate discount scheme. The salary for this position will be starting at £29.55 per hour dependent upon experience. A full-time contract is 40 hours per week, but flexible hours will be considered.
