We are looking for a Mailroom Team Leader to join our central support facilities management function.



In this role, you will organise, support and manage the incoming and outgoing mail of the council and ensure that the service is running in accordance with the service standard operating procedures.



The role will involve dealing with our supplier, building on an already established relationship to ensure we operate efficiently. You will also be responsible for the supervision of two mailroom operatives and will ensure that collections and deliveries are carried out.
You will ideally have experience of working within a mailroom environment and be receptive to change.



We will shortly be implementing a new electronic postroom system ahead of the council occupying the new Civic Campus.

Role Responsibilities:

  • The day-to-day monitoring and supervision of post room staff, focusing on their performance in terms of standards and delivery


  • Ensuring that the council’s mail deliveries are made in the most efficient manner and that adequate records are kept.


  • To assist internal departments with arranging courier and ad-hoc deliveries of packages and case files.


  • Accept deliveries from mail providers and couriers in the absence of the mailroom operatives


  • To monitor the performance of any chosen contractors and that of Royal Mail.


  • Reviewing work schedules and working closely with the management team to drive productivity and achieve results
