MACHINIST

Workshop - ALLOA

Requirements: Responsible for the flow of pumps, submersible motors & pump sets and hydro machines through the workshops and their overhaul cycle. Ensuring the job is done on time and right first time. Being Pro-active in allocation of resource and mitigation of potential error traps are crucial to deliver a quality product.

Skills Required

  • Program, Set and operate lathes, using controls
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Ability to carry out self-inspection to completed jobs.
  • Heavy engineering workshop experience would be advantageous.
  • Liaise with contract engineers, service engineers and supervisors to propose repairs and processes to return identified equipment to a serviceable condition and to the relevant specifications
  • Accountable for the machined dimensions and quality of all works undertaken
  • Carrying out various manufacturing disciplines with a degree of flexibility and integrity and working efficiently to achieve “on time” targets of an excellent quality to company procedures
  • Ensure all pre-safety checks are completed, and that all equipment and guarding in the Machine Shop is maintained to a high standard where appropriate liaising with Team Leader/ Manager
  • Ensure POWRA Board is completed and relevant to task
  • Work with Team Leader/Manager to ensure accurate and on time completion of machining requirements, completing Workshop Documentation, Quality Plans, Workshop Instruction and all relevant Inspection records to meet departmental daily/weekly work schedules
  • Ensure a high level of housekeeping and that your area of responsibility is visitor ready at all times using 6 S Techniques; actively participate where required to support the business continuous improvement projects

Education and/or Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years experience
  • Extensive experience within a rotating machinery repair shop including M/C shop experience
  • Time Served craftsperson in appropriate discipline or relevant qualifications and job experience.
  • Experience of previous similar role required
  • Knowledge and experience in production and manufacturing processes and techniques
  • Knowledge of quality systems and standards
  • Knowledge of machines and tools
  • Knowledge of engineering and technology principles and practice
