Job Title: CNC / Manual Machinist

Salary: £36,779 including 15% shift allowance

The Role
We are currently looking to recruit a Machinist for our Engineering Shop at our Corby site. The Engineering Shop provides services and support for our manufacturing operations. This includes general maintenance machining, roll reprofiling and preparation of test piece samples. The job holder will need to work a 40 hour week on a 15 shift pattern. The pattern covers Monday to Friday, days, backs and nights on a weekly rotation.
Role responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Health, Safety and Environmental performance, adhering to the works procedures and PPE instructions / procedures and facilitating the team safety meetings.
- Undertake safe operation of equipment and machines within the Engineering Shop, including basic maintenance.
- Carry out machining work on a range of machines; CNC lathes/mills, specialist roll stand lathes, manual centre lathes, milling machines, boring mills, slotters, grinders, drills, saws etc.
- Manufacture items to a high standard from drawings, within the expected delivery period.
- Take an active role in CI, maintaining and improving safety and housekeeping standards.
- Collection/delivery of parts around site.
- Apprentice training within the scope of your skills
The department has received over £250k in new machinery investment in the last 5 years and is due to be relocating to a new workshop, within the current Corby site. Over the next 2 years an additional £1 million has been made available for further new machinery and upgrades.
The Candidate
For this position the jobholder must be a time served machinist with experience working within a safe system of work.
An NVQ level 3 qualification in machining or relevant time served experience in a similar position is essential.
We are also keen to hear from you if you have:
- Experience in the manual operation of lathes, boring, grinding, milling machines
- Experience in operating and programming CNC lathes and milling machines
- Capability of interpreting technical drawings and standards
- Ability to complete manual tasks up to 25kg in weight
- Previous experience operating forklift/telehandler up to 8 tonne (training provided)
- Previous experience operating overhead crane up to 10 tonne (training provided)
A valid driving license is essential.
