FET is a world leader for the supply of Work Class ROV’s (Remotely Operated Vehicles), Observation Class ROV’s, Trenchers and Submarine Rescue Systems providing innovative solutions for challenging deep water intervention operations. Design and manufacture of these systems is based at the facility at Kirkbymoorside, North Yorkshire which is part of a worldwide company with headquarters in Houston, USA. Job purpose: Manufacture components in accordance with drawing, technical and quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities: (Key Tasks)
- Set up, program and operate CNC Mazak machining centers. Must be proficient in MAZATROL
- Read and interpret technical drawings, specifications and tolerances
- Competent in the use of precision measuring devices
- Complete Quality documentation (NCR, ECN etc.)
- Carry out standard machine maintenance
- Ability to operate manual milling machines
- Capable of working with limited supervision
- Willing to undertake flexible working hours (may include overtime, shift work, ad hoc)
- Complete administrative documentation (Timesheets, holidays etc)
- Carry out job tasks safely using good working practices
- Ensure good housekeeping at all times.
- Other duties to support the business operations as assigned
Accountabilities: (Deliverables)
- To manufacture components and parts, generally from aluminum, stainless steel and plastics, in accordance with drawings, technical specifications and tolerances
- To program and operate CNC milling machines including planning a sequence of operations to allow efficient manufacture
- Support LEAN activities within the machine shop to ensure maximum efficiency and minimize waste during the manufacturing processes.
- Provide feedback on improvements to design and machine shop equipment to support efficient manufacture of components
Education/Qualifications (desirable):
- Apprentice trained in machine tools.
Technical Competencies (essential):
- Read and interpret drawings, specifications and tolerances.
- Program and operate Mazak CNC milling machines.
- Operate manual milling machine.
- Use precision measuring equipment.
Technical Competencies (desirable):
- Program and operate Mazak CNC Lathe.
- Operate manual lathe.
Key Skills (essential):
- Must have good communication skills and the ability to work well with others.
- Must be hard working and able to work under pressure.
Experience (essential):
- Minimum 3 years machine shop experience.
- Working knowledge of standard measurements, such as those used for threads and tapers, and a good understanding of the working qualities of various metals and plastics
QHSE Competencies:
- Maintain behaviour in compliance with Forum HSE requirements.
- Maintain responsibility and accountability through personal commitment and behaviour.
- Report any unsafe or environmentally unsound acts and conditions to their immediate Supervisor such that remedial action can be taken to manage the risk.
