BRIEF
As part of our skilled and close-knit production team you will be required to perform a number of key activities to maintain smooth and efficient production and general operations. Reporting directly to the Machine Shop Supervisor, this position provides essential support in the manufacture of component parts and fittings.
It is paramount that you are a time served CNC / Manual Machinist with a strong understanding and awareness of the requirement to produce accurate and quality finished parts and fittings in a productive manner at all times.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
You should have a good mechanical and technical aptitude, receive and undertake instruction well alongside a willingness to learn and further develop your existing skills.
· Ideally, time served with at least 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing / engineering environment is an essential requirement along with being CNC trained.
· Must possess the ability to set up and operate CNC mill and lathe.
· Ideally have a good understanding of CNC programming.
· Experienced in manual machining such as milling, turning, and grinding and working with a variety of materials.
· Capable of selecting and setting of the correct tooling to maximise quality and efficiency.
· Working as part of a small team it is essential to be dependable and self-motivated with a flexible approach.
· Willingness to cross train across other production departments as and when required.
· Physical strength and stamina (role is primarily standing with the exception of breaks and lunch period).
· Ability to lift medium to heavy objects.

Machine Shop Supervisor
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
· To operate all required machinery such as lathes, drills, saws, presses, mills, punch machine and grinders for the manufacturing of engineered components, following company operating and quality procedures.
· Produce machined parts by setting up, and operating CNC machines.
· Determine the fixtures, attachments and tools necessary to complete jobs according to specifications.
· With your existing tool knowledge, assist the Machine Shop Supervisor in creating new methods of manufacturing.
· Carry out the manual machining of jigs to aid machining productivity.
· As required assist within the powder coating paint plant process.
· To report any drawings that exceed the working parameters of our machines and recommend drawing changes that could result in better efficiency and quality of components.
· Assist the CAD Technician in the creation of specific machine set-up and step by step instructions of use for the creation of all components for all machines to assist with our succession and continuity planning.
· To self-inspect all work that you have carried out on a component in accordance with our quality procedures.
· Report any quality failures or problems related to the operation of the machines to the Machine Shop Supervisor.
· To ensure that working areas are kept to the highest level of cleanliness.
· To follow the company’s health and safety and environmental policies.
· Maintain procedures and document management systems to maintain ISO accreditation and its continuing audit along with any other QMS as instructed by the Company.
· Undertake any other reasonable tasks as directed by the Machine Shop Supervisor and/or Senior Management.
