Due to Forum Packaging Ltd’s continued growth, we have exciting opportunities for experienced machine operators to join our fast-paced manufacturing team and be responsible for operating and maintaining one of our mainline conversion machines.
About Us:
Forum Packaging is renowned and respected in the paper sack industry for being one of the UK’s leading sack manufacturers supplying all types of paper sack to a variety of market sectors. More recently Forum Packaging have diversified into the production of padded mailing envelopes, this, coupled with the existing lines, has led to the demand for further machine operators.
The Role:
The role would ideally suit a time-served multi-skilled machine operator who has proven experience of setting, running and maintaining production machinery, ensuring optimum output is achieved whilst maintaining high level of quality standards.
The successful candidate will be given the opportunity to be fast-tracked through Forum’s internal training programme and would be expected to reach operator level within an agreed period of time. This period will be dependent on the successful candidates own skills and capabilities, with emphasis on the individuals initial progression within a 3 month period.
Shift pattern and working hours per week would depend on which machine the operator is allocated to – this could be; two or three shift rotation, 35 hrs/week or 37.5 hrs/week. Pay rates would vary accordingly.
Key responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain manufacturing machinery to ensure high-quality production.
- Monitor machine performance and identify and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
- Complete machine set-up and changeover tasks as required.
- Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organised work environment.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations and efficient production.
- Communicate effectively with team members and management to ensure production goals are met.
- Follow standard operating procedures and maintain accurate production records.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to improve machine performance and overall production efficiency.
- Fast learner with the capacity tonunderstand quickly and retain information
- Good understanding of quality, health, safety, hygiene and environmental standards
Experience and qualifications
- Minimum of two years’ experience as a machine operator in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Proven mechanical/technical experience in machine set up and change-overs
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Good attention to detail and ability to follow instructions and procedures.
- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent
- Computer literate
- Ability to work a rotating shift pattern (including weekends)
