Here is a fantastic opportunity to join a business as a Machine Operator. Grantham Manufacturing Ltd have been producing specialist products since the early 1960's. The Machine Operator works as one of a team to operate the GML Print Presses, Slitter & Sheeter working together and with the Production Manager/Supervisor to deliver consistency of product in a timely manner.

The Machine Operator will produce printed, slit & sheeted materials by following job specifications, setting up, operating and maintaining the equipment to ensure that it functions properly, will inspect and manage the machine to the best ability in order to guarantee the production of high quality products.

The duties also include arranging printing materials by loading paper and adjusting for size, loading and setting ink mechanisms, mounting printing plates, maintaining production quality by inspecting all produced material carefully to identify any errors that might have occurred during production and correct them to prevent customer dissatisfaction. The operator will be responsible for ensuring that the equipment is always in good working order by taking preventative maintenance measures and following manufacturers’ maintenance guidelines.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

· Set and make ready to order specification

· Correct print, slitting and sheeting errors

· Mix and blend ink to specification and maintain the Ink Kitchen logs and equipment and stock

· Evaluate job orders and specification, (orientation, colour sequencing and positioning)

· Check Printed material for clarity, accuracy, quality, finishing and other production factors

· Minimise downtime by trouble shooting and preventative maintenance

· Assist whenever a break down by identifying and resolving the reason for failure

· Ensure that colour heads, rollers, pumps and ink systems are clean and maintained

· Ensure printing plates are cleaned and appropriately stored and logged

· Keep a tidy working environment

· Ensure that machines are well lubricated in line with maintenance schedules

· Maintain requisite paperwork to BRC Standards

· Work closely with management to maximise time efficiency and maintain schedules within the printing department

Experience & Skills

· At least 5 years machine operating experience or skills

· Electric pallet truck competency

· Manual Handling trained

Hours of work: 40 hour week 0700 - 1600hrs Monday – Thursday (30 min Lunch break)

0700 – 1300hrs Friday

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: From £10.42 per hour

Education:

  • GCSE or equivalent (preferred)
