GPW are seeking a CNC Milling Machine Operator Setter for a niche manufacturer based in Manchester, their product range is impressive and sold across the world.
The CNC Machine Operator is responsible for the Machining of detailed high tolerance components, using CNC 3 & 5 Axis machining centers.
Skills and experience required as the CNC Milling Machine Operator Setter:
- Time served Mechanical engineer with extensive machine shop experience.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, documents, manuals and technical instructions with clear understanding.
- Possess fundamental skills that are required to confidently set complex work pieces prior to machining to undertake manufacture.
- Experience in using up to date machining strategies utilising High Feed/Speed tooling.
- Be skilled and conversant in the setting and operation of Mazak VariAxis i500 and/or Mazak VTC800 5 Axis machining centres.
- Have a working knowledge of CNC Machine controls such as, Mazak Matrix2, Mazak Smooth X & Siemens D840.
- Have a good working knowledge and experience of material properties such as, Steels, Aluminium and Alloys.
Qualifications required as the CNC Milling Machine Operator Setter:
- Completion of a recognised apprenticeship (preferably in composite craft/mechanical technician) or experience to equivalent depth.
- Completed a city and guilds qualification or equivalent.
Please note it is essential that the CNC Milling Machine Operator Setter is not a milling/turner only, you must also have programming experience and be comfortable setting complex machinery.
We are ideally wanting to find someone with 5 Axis machining experience (although they are open to it if you don’t) if you have Siemens machine experience that would be beneficial, you will need Mazak as a minimum though.
The Benefits
- Salary is £17.76 per hour (£33,246.72 pa) based on 36hrs Mon – Thurs 6:45am-4:15pm
- 25 days holiday + 8 stats (appropriate number of days to be saved for Xmas closedown (usually 3 days)
