Machine Finishing Assistant Gap Personnel are delighted to be working with an international Packaging Manufacturer who produce many of the packaging products that you come into contact with on a daily basis. They are one of the largest manufacturers of paperboard and paper-based packaging for some of the world’s most recognised brands of food, beverage, foodservice, household, personal care and pet care products. They have over 130 facilities worldwide that are always introducing innovative packaging solutions to their customers and give them the competitive edge. Their products focus on renewable, recycled, and recyclable materials and they employee 24,000 people. The assistant should be able to feed and take on the machine that they are asked to work on. The assistant should be fully aware of any health and safety issues, particularly the stop button systems employed on each machine. Duties: The assistant should be able to feed the machine in the correct manner. The feed assistant should have a basic understanding of the process of the machine and how it manufactures a finished carton. The feed assistant should have a working knowledge of quality issues: recognising an amount of print and cut and crease issues, using the correct terminology as far as possible. The feed assistant will be expected to keep the machine clean and the feed area tidy. This will include sweeping up, cleaning under lifting tables and at times cleaning the machine framework. Carry out the duties that are involved in the running of a packing machine. The assistant should be able to check for quality of finished product The packing assistant should be able to assist the machine minder in the setting of the packer. The assistant should understand the paperwork involved for each job and will take an active park in the changeover process when going on to a new job. The assistant should always be prepared to run the machine to the optimum speed and to be generally vigilant while carrying out their tasks, reporting anything you think maybe a problem to the minder or team leader. The assistant will be expected to work under instruction in other areas if required The company hygiene policy should be adhered to at all times, this includes the dress code and jewelry policy The assistant will be expected to be on the shop floor in time to carry out an effective shift change over. Skills: Ability to work under strict deadlines and targets Ability to follow structured plans to time and standards Ability to understand clear written and verbal instructions Benefits: 2x life insurance Pension Scheme – 5% employer/ Employee contributions Company sick pay after 1 year – 75% covered for 6 weeks Pension Scheme – 5% employer/ Employee contributions Salary is £25,473.08 Further Information: Our Client's site is a completely non smoking site and you will not be able to smoke for the 12 hour shift Shifts are a 4-shift pattern, where there are 3 x 12 hour shifts worked in the pattern. One week days and one week nights. Long shifts but good rest periods inbetween gap personnel are operating as an employment business.
