Department of Social Policy LSE Fellow

Salary from £38,313 to £46,148 pa inclusive of London allowance with potential to progress to £49,614 pa

This is a fixed-term appointment for two years, starting in September 2023


The Department of Social Policy at LSE is the longest established in the UK and has received the highest possible rating in all Research Assessment Exercises carried out in the UK. The 2022 QS World University Rankings by Subject place the Department of Social Policy 3rd in the world.

The Department is seeking to appoint two LSE Fellows who are able to make important contributions to its teaching and supervision, at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and to its research. An LSE Fellow post presents an excellent starting point for an academic to gain teaching experience while developing their research career.

Candidates should have:
  • By the post’s start date, completed or be close to obtaining a PhD in social policy or another area related to the needs of the post
  • A developing research record in social and public policy
  • Potential to produce internationally excellent publications in social and public policy
  • Experience of teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level
  • Teaching-related administrative experience, including working with virtual learning environments (eg Moodle and Zoom) would be an advantage.

(b) a curriculum vitae that includes details of your teaching experience and of your most important publications and working papers; and (c) a recent research paper that best represents your work.
