In this fast placed and dynamic environment, you will have the opportunity to develop knowledge of the sustainability debate, by working with a portfolio of clients, including trade associations, manufacturers, service providers, local authorities, and national government. This will support you in developing your client delivery and stakeholder management skills, develop knowledge around international circular economy and low carbon energy policies and industry activity, through first-hand experience of engaging with clients.
The successful applicant will have a demonstrated interest in sustainability and/or low carbon energy. Ideally, you would have knowledge of some of the following topics, including the circular economy, Environmental, Social and Governance principles, Corporate Social Responsibility, development of hydrogen and low carbon fuels, and decarbonisation, both within the UK and globally. Candidates must be organised and methodical whilst also having the ability to manage workloads. Technical understanding of low carbon solutions, green technologies and supply chain would be valuable. This is a great opportunity for an individual interested in a career in circular economy/sustainability and in consulting to gain experience in client delivery, insight into corporate sustainability and low carbon technology development.

The Role
We are looking for a motivated candidate with knowledge and/or background in sustainable development (or similar discipline) to join our consulting team within the Low Carbon Business Unit. We have a growing and exciting list of projects across circular economy, low carbon fuels (including hydrogen) and ESG topics which we’d like to offer an intern the opportunity to contribute to.
The Internship will be for a period of 3 months until December 2023.
Responsibilities
- Conduct desk based and market research into current and past sustainability policies in the UK and globally.
- Undertake research and analysis of circular economy developments within industry.
- Support development of in-house circular economy insights inventory.
- Research low carbon policies across the energy in buildings sector.
- Develop content to include into reports, policy position or advocacy papers, market research reports, policy insight pieces, client briefings, blogs and contribute content for other works where necessary.
- Gain insight and contribute to carbon reporting projects.
- Support ESG activities.
- Identify and implement innovative methods for visualising data and presenting findings in an impactful way to engage stakeholders.
Requirements
- Experience and qualifications – the successful applicant will either be a recent graduate with a relevant degree (sustainable development, circular economy, environmental management, climate change etc.), be currently enrolled in a college/University, or have equivalant experience.
- Communication - we need to be able to convert complex issues into easily understood analysis, reports and presentations. We regularly develop and publish high quality reports proposing policy solutions to Government and industry. Attention to detail and the ability to produce clear, concise and accurate written documentation is essential. You will need excellent oral communication skills and feel confident communicating your ideas appropriately at all levels of the organisations that we engage with.
