Job description
To work within the nursing team delivering patient care under supervision from a trained nurse.
Assist in the provision of care to patients, supporting and being supervised by a registered nurse. Assist patients with all activities of daily living. Assists qualified staff by undertaking personal care duties for patients. Reports patients condition to qualified staff. Full range of manual and clerical duties. Will be required to maintain the orderliness and hygiene and safety of the ward/departmental environment.
To assist with patient care needs under the supervision of a trained nurse.
Check and prepare patients for treatment by qualified staff
Assist patients with their dietary needs as directed by a trained nurse.
Participate in the admission and discharge of patients in conjunction with the multi-professional team as directed by a trained nurse.
Escort patients to other areas of the hospital
London Irish Ward is a busy 32 bedded ward. We are an established nursing team on the London Irish Ward that works with a team nursing model approach, enhancing great teamwork and communication between staff and the MDT teams. This is a ward that cares for patients undergoing surgery following spinal procedures, amongst other orthopaedic procedures.
Project a professional appearance in behaviour and manner of dress and always be courteous when talking to patients, their families and visitors on the ward.
Carry out clerical duties, including preparation of patient documentation, filing of notes and booking of appointments. Welcome new patients and their relatives/carers and help them settle into the ward
Encourages a good working relationship with the multi-professional team.
To report any potential complaints or untoward incidents to the Ward Manager/nurse in charge and participate in the process as appropriate.
To assist trained staff with the maintenance of equipment and ordering of supplies.
Maintain patient and staff confidentiality at all times.
To be aware of and adhere to RNOHT hospital policies.
Assist the smooth running of the ward by carrying out other duties including unpacking stores, tidying and cleaning equipment, taking messages and ensuring they are passed on as necessary.
