What to Expect

The Port Operations team is responsible for cars entering and exiting ports throughout Europe. In this role, you will be part of a hands-on and dynamic team responsible for the operations within the UK and Ireland. This role keeps in close contact with key stakeholders including regulatory authorities, port operators, shipping lines, but also with the subsequent nodes in the Tesla distribution network, such as the trucking fleet and the delivery centers.

You will manage the day-to-day operations within the port. Task such as truck planning, load creation, supporting the loading and unloading of trains, trucks and vessels, following up on shipment creation and other tasks in TMS, paperwork creation for incoming and outgoing shipments, problem solving and communicating with the port operator are part of the role.

This role is part of the outbound logistics team and reports to the Associate Port Operations Manager in Southampton.

What You’ll Do
  • Coordinate outbound logistics flows from ports to Tesla locations and end customers throughout market.
  • Work with central teams to oversee bulk scheduling of incoming customer vehicles.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory stock levels at Logistics locations across UK and Ireland
  • Coordinate shipping and receiving operations for local ports.
  • Plan and agree with local stakeholders the best location and conditions for the vessel’s call.
  • Identify opportunities to drive cost reductions in all vehicle movements whilst maintaining speed through all vehicle flows and shipping lanes.
  • Support Tesla’s freight audit and payment processes to ensure that Tesla’s freight payments are aligned with services provided and with contracted rates.
  • Coordinate vehicle movements between Tesla sites to support the Sales, Service and Delivery teams.
What You’ll Bring
  • Good experience in supply chain related functions, operations management (logistics required), preferably within an automotive manufacturer or supplier.
  • Experience with MS Office Applications, including knowledge of Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong critical thinking and resolution in sometimes ambiguous situations.
  • Self-driven initiative to gain and share a broader knowledge of supply chain.
  • Travel required up to 30%.
  • BA/BS degree or relevant equivalent.
  • Hands-on mentality
  • Work irregular hours
