Job Description Summary
The post will be part of the Supply Chain organisation for the largest aircraft engine servicing facility in the world reporting into Site Logistics Leader. The successful candidate will Lead the Logistics function within GE Wales as well as holding accountabilities for all aspects of Logistics Operational performance. Logistics Operations include Logistics Operational Team management, performance of all shipping and transportation for the site from a Global Supply Chain, and delivery of material to and from GE Aerospace Wales.. A solid mix of strategic and tactical engagement is key, utilising process improvement techniques in a Lean environment to keep driving world class standards across the function. The post holder will have direct reports and shared dotted-line reporting of circa 15+ personnel. A key responsibility will be to ensure that the company’s compliance is maintained on all material movements, with ongoing focus on customs activities supported by the business Customs Compliance Team, compliance to AEO and IP regulations, as well as maintaining the business Known Consignor status.Job Description
KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Execute and Supervise Logistics Operational Processes, including Customs Procedures in the UK and 3rd Party Logistics Supplier Engagement and Management
- Oversight of operational exceptions, including the expedite of items between sites internal (UK) and external liaising with relevant stakeholders such as couriers, freight forwarders and MRO leaders.
- Manage the local distribution network. Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders such as Material Planning, Couriers and Freight Forwarders.
- Stand in for the Logistics Leader in dealing with customers, contractors, and auditors on site face-to-face if required
- Support in upholding the site CAA Known Consignor Credentials acting as the Site Security Deputy and help in maintaining the Site KC Security Programme up to date. Carrying out monthly site audits checks to ensure full compliance with the Programme.
- Support in full the Site Customs Compliance Leader with any AEO related tasks and activities to uphold the site validation
- Shipping Risk Management in respect of all freight movements to and from the site. Coordinating liabilities and escalations with relevant parties for missing/damaged material in transit.
- Having full understanding of all Import and Export processes for both Engines, Modules and other heavyweight hardware in line with local work instructions provided by the Site Customs Compliance Team
- Provide permanent support to the business for safe transportation of dangerous goods, must be able to become Certificated IATA/ICAO (safe transportation of Dangerous Goods By Air) – training would be supported by business

Piece parts outbound shipping management. Own G1 Despatch shipping processes liaising with G1, CRW, 4PL Suppliers and all other areas that could require support from a shipping standpoint. Work closely with the business Vendor Management Team providing updates on outbound AWBs and escalating accordingly to achieve an effective problem-solving approach.
REQUIREMENTS - QUALIFICATIONS & CHARACTERISTICS
- Experience in Logistics and/or Supply Chain Operations – Preferably within Manufacturing/Servicing, however FMCG and Distribution will also be applicable
- Advanced computer literacy skills, with ongoing experience of windows-based packages
- Previous experience leading a Team. Must be an effective team player with ability to motivate others and encourage progress
- Be able to demonstrate a knowledge of Lean Six Sigma techniques - with a focus on Waste Removal and Digitisation and proven track record in project management and critical path method

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS & CHARACTERISTICS
- Bachelor’s Degree / relevant diploma holder – Logistics and Supply Chain advantageous, other relevant experience will be considered
