Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 D.O.E plus car allowance and bonus

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Manufacturing, the Logistics Manager will work closely with a multi-disciplined team, with the principal focus being the realisation of the business' strategic objectives. In the context of Logistics management, these objectives include but are not limited to the following:

  • Developing the method by which we serve customers in order to ensure the experience enhances our reputation with our internal customers and the end users of our products, and our external customers.
  • Develop our systems of control to ensure the traceability of finished products and service parts in order that service is optimised and our financial controls are supported by robust processes.
  • Develop our systems of reporting On Time in Full (OTIF), to achieve Best in Class standards.
  • Develop methodologies for material and finished product handling that enhance the safety of such procedures whilst protecting the quality of our products.
  • Develop the Despatch team to ensure they are structured, resourced and supported in a manner that ensures the delivery of all objectives.
  • Develop a suite of SQCDP KPI's for the Logistics team that supports continuous improvement in performance.

The Logistics Manager will lead teams in our Despatch area in pursuit of the above objectives whilst maintaining a focus on the daily operational needs of the business. Key day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Proactively engage with internal Service and Installation colleagues and external teams to ensure customer expectations of quality and service are understood, met and continually improved upon.
  • Provide a reactive escalation point where service issues arise and ensure they are dealt with efficiently.
  • Effectively control labour and overhead costs within the Despatch area.
  • Ensure statutory requirements particularly in relation to the management and use of heavy goods vehicles.
  • Ensure conformance with the Quality Management System and Health and Safety Management System as they pertain to the Despatch area and team.

Key Skills and Attributes

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate those around them to innovate and deliver.
  • A minimum of ten years experience in a logistics management role, working in a dynamic environment.
  • The ability to identify opportunities through challenging the status quo and the conviction to drive change.
  • The ability to engage and influence a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Educated to degree level in Operations Management or Business Management would be preferred, but appropriate experience would also be considered.
  • A proven track record of delivering results in Continuous Improvement.
  • A good understanding of current Health and Safety regulations, and experienced in UK road transport legislation.
  • Demonstrable commercial awareness and experience of budgetary management.

Salary: £45,000.00-£55,000.00 per year
