We deliver around 1.3million loaves, every day of the week throughout the UK and Ireland, where we also make Mothers Pride and Ormo products.
We are 2,800 people working within 8 bakeries, 1 flour mill, and 2 regional distribution centres across the UK. An exciting opportunity has arisen at the Bradford Site. We're looking for a Logistics First Line Manager, to manage, develop and lead their team to effectively deliver an operationally excellent factory in line with Hovis supply chain business requirements. Supplying finished goods and services to customers through the utilisation of network planning, supply chain procedures and transport management.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- To manage, develop and lead the team
- To develop an efficient operation in line with the site plan and key business performance indicators
- Comply with company and legal standards (safety, hygiene and environment)
- Lead and develop continuous improvement activity in the teams delivery of quality, value, safety, hygiene, environment and customer service
- Ensure total compliance to all standard procedures and systems
People
- Line manage a team of Primary and Radial drivers (organise, motivate, communicate, set objectives, review performance etc)
- Demonstrate visible leadership for the team
- Develop the team to ensure a culture of continuous improvement becomes commonplace
- Encourage teamwork and a supporting environment in order to improve business performance
- Delivery of a training plan to budget to meet both individual and business needs
- Maintain team headcount standards, input to succession plans and participate in recruitment if vacancies arise
Functional/Operational Excellence
- Always comply with all applicable corporate and legal standards (personal safety, transport safety, food safety, quality, hygiene and environment)
- Ensure the team delivers product quality in line with product improvement strategy
- Measure and deliver the KPI’s to achieve the business plan (financial, quality, customer service)
- Ensure continuous improvement to year on year improvements versus plans and targets
- Ensure accurate performance reporting for all measures required (site targets, KPI’s, team performance etc)
- Good working knowledge of Hovis HR Policies and processes (performance, conduct, disciplinary, grievance, attendance etc)
Team
- Be an active member of the site management team
- To contribute to the development and implementation of site plans
- Work with other FLM’s on site to ensure shared responsibility for delivering all KPI’s and targets
- Conduct regular briefings and communication sessions with the team
KNOWLEDGE & SPECIFIC JOB SKILLS
Essential
- Relevant industry experience
- Excellent systems knowledge of Tachograph, telematics & Vehicle Defect systems
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge and commitment to H&S
- Excellent Leadership and people management and coaching skills
- Ability to demonstrate values based behaviours and lead the cultural task of front line employee empowerment
- Committed to continuously improving personal and team performance
- IT literate
- Good numeracy and literacy
- Good communication skills at all levels
Desirable:
- Holder of CAT C/C+E license
- Driver CPC
- Experience of working in a Trade Union environment
Location: Based in Bradford
Type of role: Full Time, Permanent
Shift pattern: 4 on 4 off. (4 days on, 4 days off, 4 nights on)
Salary: Up to £40,000
Reporting to: Transport Manager
