About the Role
The Athletic is seeking a live football reporter to work with some of the best sports writers in the world and a talented team of editors to produce exceptional live football blogs on a daily basis. The right candidate will have experience working on a national sports desk or similar, a brilliant quality of copy and an engaging, driven approach to live coverage.
Responsibilities
- Writing, editing and publishing content in live blogs.
- Curating the best content from social media.
- Working with reporters to produce copy in their voice for live experience.
- Collaborating with news editors to keep blogs up to date.
- Strategic planning for tentpole events, matches and news storylines.
- Understanding SEO and best practices.
- Understanding of trends – both on search and social media.
Requirements
- High-end knowledge of football.
- Must be flexible and collaborative.
- Requirements for those in London will include time in the office, where requested.
- Willingness to work unsociable shifts around weekends and evenings.
