Job Introduction

We have an exciting opportunity for a proactive colleague with a keen eye for detail to join our Legal Services team in London as a Litigation Assistant.

As a Litigation Assistant, you will be part of the conscientious Member Cases and Claims Division that is at the forefront of protecting the careers, reputation and financial risk of our members worldwide. You will play a pivotal role in supporting the Litigation Solicitors in the provision of excellent legal services for members, consisting primarily in the defence of litigated clinical negligence claims.

This role is a great career opportunity for an aspiring legal professional looking to fully immerse themselves in the litigation process. You will gain invaluable experience from working closely with the expert Litigation Solicitors while having continued support and opportunities to get involved in a whole host of exciting development opportunities, such as drafting instructions to counsel, attending conferences, liaising with members and experts, and providing front line support.

Role Responsibility

  • Supporting L1 and L2 Litigation Solicitors in proactively managing clinical negligence claims from service of proceedings to resolution.
  • Supporting assigned projects/initiatives ensuring delivery of projects to time, cost and quality and that can demonstrate a return on investment.
  • Supporting the delivery of the MC&C strategy and contribute to the development and delivery of the Legal Services strategy to plan, cost and quality.
  • Managing informal complaints / expressions of dissatisfaction to achieve first touch resolution for our members.
  • Supporting the Litigation Solicitors to deliver fair treatment and outcomes for members and compliance with associated policies and standards.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will have legal qualifications and / or legal experience working in a within a clinical negligence setting or in-house legal team.

We are looking for self-motivated team players with excellent written and verbal communication skills who are dedicated to working in a cohesive and efficient team. As you can imagine, the nature of this work can vary in complexity, so you will be required to demonstrate excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.

The ideal candidate will hold themselves to high standards, efficiently managing several deadlines at one time by having a flexible approach and not compromising on quality.
