Reporting to the Senior Lighting Design Engineer, you will undertake design, investigation, and aid implementation of lighting schemes throughout the Ringway Jacobs business. This is a stimulating role requiring a proactive approach ensuring client liaison and continual industry research to provide solutions and advice for local authority and external clients.
The Role
This role requires you to use your knowledge of highway lighting design to resolve queries, questions and problems presented accommodating for engineering, financial and health & safety considerations. The ideal candidate shall be able to understand the technicalities of lighting and communicate to non-technical persons within or outside the business. You will have excellent interpersonal, organisational & communication skills & work well in a team environment.
Key Responsibilities;
- Undertake Lighting assessments & designs in line with guidance & local policy including site inspections and surveys
- Maintain relationship with client representatives to ensure designs are in line with local policy
- Drive team standards by working with Senior Engineers & Team Leaders and coaching/mentoring junior team members
- Build & submit cost estimates for schemes
- Monitor & report scheme progress, timescales & deadlines to Team Leaders
- Undertake risk assessments
- Preparing design drawings using AutoCAD
- Fulfil CPD requirements of professional body
Ideal Candidate;
- Detailed knowledge of lighting guidance documents & British Standards.
- Knowledge of highways & road lighting
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
- Competent in the use of AutoCAD & Lighting Reality/Dialux
- Full driver's licence
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent accreditation or suitable industry experience
