Work Type: Part-time/Seasonal Nature of Work: Summary: This work involves monitoring the activities around a city swimming pool to ensure that patrons behave in a safe manner. Education and Experience: (The knowledge, skills, and abilities above may be acquired through, but are not limited to, the following combination of education and/or experience.) Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Competencies and skills: Essential: Ability to monitor a large number of swimmers and others near the pool and detect unruly or dangerous behavior or improper attire Ability to administer first aid and CPR Ability to communicate with co-workers and the public Ability to understand written and oral instructions Essential Functions: (Any one position may not perform all of the duties listed, nor do the listed examples include all of the duties that may be performed in positions allocated to this classification.) Detailed responsibilities: Monitors swimmers in the water and those near the water to enforce the rules of the pool and to ensure the safety of patrons Provides assistance to swimmers as needed, removing them from the pool and administering first aid and cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) Enforces the pools dress code Assists in cleaning the pool and grounds Performs other duties as assigned or as the situation dictates within the scope of this classification Special Qualifications: Other information: Must be a minimum of 15 years old.
