ICG Life Sciences Summary
The Life Sciences team is a team of healthcare specialists with deep knowledge of healthcare therapeutics and a focus on investing in companies which are developing novel medicines to treat diseases of high unmet medical need. The team invests into companies developing novel medicines to treat diseases of high unmet medical need which are in, or close to entering the clinical development phase. The team is based primarily in London, but the team has a global outlook and will invest in companies both in Europe and the US, typically invest between $15m to $100m per company.
The Life Sciences team is a highly experienced group which has worked together or the past 5 years, and collectively has been involved in over 120 drug development programmes and 25 marketed pharmaceutical products.
We are seeking a highly motivated individual to support the team and gain experience of life sciences investing. Able to undertake independent work, manage the deal follow, support the team on deals and provide administrative support where required.
Position Summary
- Support the team in fund raising dealing with Limited Partners arrangements, providing background information, and researching Limited Partner prospects.
- Support the team in prospecting new deals and meeting with companies.
- Manage the weekly deal log and where appropriate responding to companies with the outcome of our review at weekly deal meetings.
- Undertaking and co-ordinating due diligence activities on deals and gaining experience of life science investing (from pre-invest).
- Keep abreast of scientific advances and new developments in the literature.
- Where required provide operational support to the team, in conference attendance, meeting coordination, room booking and system support.
- Represent ICG Life Sciences at industry conferences.
Primary Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the role are split and include, but are not limited to:
- Supporting the team in fund raising, meeting investee companies, and assessing investment opportunities.
- Managing the deal log and updating companies on the outcome of our review.
- Support due diligence activities on deals.
- Business assistance including working on documents, spreadsheets, and presentations.
- Provide operational support to the team – e.g., arranging meetings, travel, expenses, and calendar co-ordination, etc.
Key Requirements/ Qualifications
You will have demonstrable experience of:
- Degree or higher degree level qualification in an area of life sciences, eg Biology, pharmacology, medicine, chemistry, and other biological science disciplines.
- An aptitude in being organised.
- A passion to learn with an understanding of the scientific biological principles.
- An interest in being part of a fast-moving team, and willing to learn.
- An acceptance of being part of the support network for the team while learning on the job.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Fluent written and verbal English.
- Ability to work independently, effectively and remain calm under pressure.
- Excellent interpersonal/communication skills with a positive helpful attitude and teamwork skills.
- Accuracy and attention to detail whilst working to meet strict deadlines.
- Complete understanding of confidentiality issues and use of discretion.
- Reliable, trustworthy, and respected.
