Licensing Officer Huntingdon, England

Huntingdonshire District Council
Full Time Huntingdon, England 32134 - 36168 GBP ANNUAL Today
Job description

Huntingdonshire District Council (HDC) is passionate about providing high-quality services to our communities, residents and businesses. This means we must employ and retain the most talented and dedicated people.

Situated within the heart of the Cambridge-Peterborough Growth Area, Huntingdonshire is a beautiful district that boasts thriving market towns and many attractive villages, each with its own identity. We are an innovative and forward-thinking local authority whose residents are at the heart of our decision-making.

At HDC we want to employ staff who embody our icare values (Inspiring, Collaborative, Accountable, Respectful, Enterprising), all of which support our ultimate purpose of putting our customers first.

Job details

An opportunity has arisen to join our fantastic Licensing Team on a full-time, permanent basis to support us with a vast range of licensing tasks. These include:

  • LA03/taxi/animal welfare

  • dealing with customer queries and complainants

  • supporting the admin team

  • managing workload

  • policy development

  • taking enforcement action to help us achieve our service, which meets customer expectations.

Although flexible on how the hours are worked, ideally, we're looking for someone who can support us over five days between Monday to Friday, with the occasional evening and weekend as required.

The role is a mix of all licensing disciplines and is not focused on one licence type. Your daily work will be generated through service requests, actions and inspections. You will help us to meet statutory timescales and work with external partners to deliver the needs of the service.

In this busy and varied role, no two days will be the same. You could be developing policies, carrying out both pre-programmed and unannounced, dealing with customer queries via telephone/face to face or email, managing caseloads in a priority order. This is a chance to really make an impact, learn new skills and be part of a supportive team.

You must be an excellent communicator with strong organisational skills, confident and competent to deal with a variety of issues. Self-motivated and proactive, you will have some previous licensing experience and be able to manage your own workload with minimal supervision to meet multiple deadlines.

A good general knowledge surrounding the concepts and principles of the licensing function is desired, but we're committed to finding the right person with an interest in licensing that would thrive in this role.

Striking the balance between delivering a compliant licensing process whilst maintaining flexibility to meet stakeholder needs, you'll be known for your reliability, attention to detail and organisation, alongside a collaborative and proactive approach.

Apply

Does this sound like the opportunity for you? If so, we'd love to hear from you. You can apply by either completing an application form OR submitting your CV along with a covering letter outlining your suitability for the role to [email protected].

The closing date is 9am 16 June 2023, however, this is a rolling campaign and we'll be reviewing applications on an ongoing basis and will close the advert early should we receive suitable applications, so please don't delay in applying!

For many of our roles (and where it is possible) we are currently working remotely and anticipate in the future returning to a hybrid office model on a flexible basis. This will still include work-from-home and flexi-time opportunities in order to provide a good work-life balance whilst still ensuring that teams benefit from in-person interaction. Candidates should therefore be within commutable distance of our offices in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire or able to attend meetings as required if further afield.

Should you have any additional questions regarding submitting an application, please contact the Licensing at [email protected]

Please note that the official closing date is as above, and will be the correct date. Some third-party websites may have different dates. Please refer to the HDC website for the official closing date to ensure you do not miss out on applying.
